    1. Re: [OHPORTAG-L] QExpress for Portage Co., Ohio ( PHIPPS BOOSINGER )
    2. Hi Deronda: I have a copy of the will of Conrad Busfinger of Talmage in the County of Portage dated 1826 and probated in February 1828. He lists wife Cathrine, sons George, Jacob, John and Conrad (this name is not very readable). He also lists his daughters: Barbara Price, Tilly Lap, Susan Sap, Cathrine Fosher, Polly Bupard?, Effy Ward, Tenny Hains, Sally Ettinger and Rachel Sacks. John settled in Brimfield and married Barbara Williard. His son John II is the forebearer of Marilyn Boosinger. I believe Marilyn's dad was Ralph, and her grandfather was Elis. His father was Edward C, son of John II and his second wife. John and Barbara also had a son George. As to Conrad's other sons - Jacob, George and Conrad - they must have settled in Summit Co, or other places. In the Portage County History there are references to conrad and his sons John and George. I am not researching Boosingers, but Ettinger/Eatingers. That is why I have a copy of the will. The Boosingers used to have family reunions at the Brimfield Shelter the first Sunday in August, the last I heard was in 1989. Jackie W.

    2. Deronda, My father went to grade school in the early 1900's in Brimfield with Charlie Boosinger. There was still a Boosinger family in Brimfield in the mid to late 1960's because there was a Marilyn Boosinger in my high school class. R, Will Weber

    2. Deronda Phipps
    3. Surnames: PHIPPS BOOSINGER Submitter: Deronda Phipps ([email protected]) Date: 21 Oct 1999 I am looking for information on the PHIPPS and BOOSINGER surnames. Susan Boosinger born April 3, 1820 in Brimfield, OH. I have found an IGI Record which gives Susan Boosinger married James Phipps on Sept. 24, 1848 in Summit, OH. My husbands great Uncle Orson Phipps was born 1858 in Summit Co., OH and is buried in Morenci, Lenawee Co., MI, which is where my husband's grandfather was born. Also buried in this same cemetery is Susan Phipps born April 3, 1820 "Bumfield, OH". My husbands father told me that James Phipps' spouse was "Sally Bussinger". After finding Conrad Boosinger in the Portage/Summit area I came to the conclusion that her name was not Sally Bussinger but Susan Boosinger, that is when I was able to locate the IGI Record showing her marriage to James Phipps. I also found a Susan Boosinger married Sept. 9, 1846 to a John Cobb in Portage Co., OH. (This may be the same Susan, perhaps John Cobb died and she married second to James Phipps). Parentage is not given for Susan Boosinger, however I feel she is of the correct age to be a daughter to a son of Conrad Boosinger b. 1752. I am very excited about this information, anything that you can add would be greatly appreciated. Sincere Thanks, Deronda Phipps

    3. Hi, Laura! I couldn't find my great grandmother, either, so I wrote to the Ohio Historical Society, giving her name, parent's names (as best I could), estimated date and location of birth and her death date. I enclosed the $3.00 check with the request for a search. They found her! And sent the certificate pretty quickly. You might give it a try. Good luck! Hi: I have tried to get a death certificate for my husband's great-grandfather, Austin Adelbert Blair through the Ohio Historical Society, and have looked at their online death index and can't find him. He died Mar. 21, 1920 in Mantua, Portage Cty. OH. Is there a local office that I could try in order to get the death cert. and where would it be? Any tips are appreciated. 2. Jack W. Richardson
    3. Surnames: RICHARDSON JOHNSON Submitter: Jack W. Richardson ([email protected]) Date: 16 Oct 1999 LYMAN RICHARDSON of Portage County, Ohio is buried in Kent, Ohio. He died Jan 13, 1892. He had been married to Nancy nee Johnson in May 1837, and had 7 or 8 children. Lyman disappeared from records for over 35 years, from 1856 to 1892, where was he? Also, where in Massachusetts or Connecticut was he born? Who were his parents? Lyman's burial record says he was 78 at time of death, if this is correct, he was born between Jan 1813 and Jan 1814. He and Nancy are in the 1850 census as a family with 7 children, this record shows he was born in Massachusetts. But we have no proof that he ever came from there. I need your help.

    3. Look what just arrived at RootsWeb!!! New!! This is so neat! You can upload your family file to RootsWeb for free! And, boy, is it great! I just uploaded and it only took a few minutes. You have the option to include "more about" notes or not, you can include your sources or not, you can "clean" the info on your living folks---many options available. First, you need to set up an account, so you can upload your file, and later, to edit it (which I just did, also). Then, send it up! So easy and so fast. It took HOURS to send it to the Family Tree Maker site. Just minutes at RootsWeb, and it's much more complete. Also, you can add "post-ems" to anyone's data, and you can be notified when someone adds a post-em to yours, so that you can connect. This is brand new, just got started yesterday, I think. There may be a few bugs yet, but there's a message board where the fellow taking care of the GEDs is posting responses to the suggestions. And he is fast. What a great idea! Now we can all connect so much easier and FREE! Here's the URL: http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/ I can't wait to get some more databases online. Spread the word! Kathy
