Sapps. I am a descendant of Henry Sapp who moved to Portage Co. from Maryland around 1799 and died in Ravenna in 1856. He had five sons: Daniel, John, Henry, Isaac, and Jacob. My branch (through John) remained in Ravenna until 1846 when they moved to Nebraska via Indiana. I am particularly interested in any references to Sapps in Portage Co. between the 1790s and 1850s. But since the farm remained in the family until 1958, I'm also interested in any information on Portage County Sapps. Of course, if anyone on this list is working on families with Sapps in them, I'd be interested in exchanging information. An ancestor of mine, John Sapp, moved to Portage Co. from Maryland around 1824. He had a daughter, Susan, who married a John Boosinger in Portage Co. She, along with her siblings, was born in Maryland. I don't have dates at this time, but Susan was probably born in b/w 1810-1820. Don't know how much this helps, but if you come across any information on John & Susan Boosinger, I'd be interested. I have found an IGI Record which gives > Susan Boosinger married James Phipps on Sept. 24, 1848 in Summit, OH. > My husbands great Uncle Orson Phipps was born 1858 in Summit Co., OH and is buried in Morenci, Lenawee Co., MI, which is where my husband's grandfather was born. Also buried in this same cemetery is Susan Phipps born April 3, 1820 "Bumfield, OH". My husbands father told me that James Phipps' spouse was "Sally Bussinger". After finding Conrad Boosinger in the Portage/Summit area I came to the conclusion that her name was not Sally Bussinger but Susan Boosinger, that is when I was able to locate the IGI Record showing her marriage to James Phipps. I also found a Susan Boosinger married Sept. 9, 1846 to a John Cobb in Portage Co., OH. (This may be the same Susan, perhaps John Cobb died and she married second to James Phipps). Parentage is not given for Susan Boosinger, however I feel she is of the correct age to be a daughter to a son of Conrad Boosinger b. 1752. > I am very excited about this information, anything that you can add would be greatly appreciated. > Sincere Thanks, Deronda Phipps --------------504BCA3512498A71D6CE2472 Content-Type: text/x-vcard; charset=us-ascii; name="sappan.vcf" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Description: Card for sappan Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="sappan.vcf" begin:vcard n:Sapp;Andrew tel;home:(617)868-2117 x-mozilla-html:FALSE adr:;;17 Peabody Terrace #21;Cambridge;MA;02138;USA version:2.1 email;internet:[email protected] x-mozilla-cpt:;3 fn:Andrew Sapp end:vcard --------------504BCA3512498A71D6CE2472--
