    3. I have a Mehitable Tuttle, daughter of Jonathan Tuttle. She married Ebenezer Fenton, b. 1710 in Mansfield, (Windham) Tolland, CT. This is the Fenton line that ended up in Chautauqua County, NY. If there is a possible connection to John Tuttle from Lebanon, CT, I'd be interested in this information. 2. I am looking for information on an Abigail Tuttle who was the second wife of Asa Briggs. Asa was born in Vernon, Vermont on August 28, 1778 and traveled to Portage County, Ohio where he married Abigail on September 18, 1830. Their children were Cardama Celia Briggs, born November 17, 1833 and Hiram Finley Briggs, born May 25, 1835. I think there is a Tuttle Cemetery in Portage County. Marilee

It's off Route 88, which is Freedom Street, North of Route 59. It doesn't show a Lake on that road, but it does exist! If you go to maps.yahoo.com and type in Sapp Road, Ravenna OH it will bring up a map for you. In addition, I looked up the cemetery records for the Old Cemetery in Rootstown - a transcription of that cemetery was completed in 1929. They listed the 3 Sapp's whose tombstones I had a hard time reading in 2002: Isaac Sapp, died Jan 9, 1871, aged 44 Jacob Sapp, died Jan 13, 1868, aged 87 Mary Sapp, wife of Jacob, died Apr 9, 1853, aged 64 In 1929 they could still read the tombstones! They're mostly faded now. Chris

    3. Hi Jan, That would ve real kick in the head! As editor of the Portage County Genealogical Society newsletter, does Shalersville have any historian now? Any suggested sources (persons) to contact to find out more about the following family's activities in Shalersville? The following was sent by Terry Fillows?? 1850 census Shalersville Twp, Portage Co. Ohio page 116a 146/146 Name Age/Sex Occupation Value Birthplace Marital Status James M. Hall 52/m Farmer $860 Vt Lydia A. 52/f Ct Lydia A. 19/f Oh Elizabeth N. 17/f Oh s John MOTT 11/m Oh s Most of these individuals ended up in Chautaqua County, NY, but three daughters (Amelia S, Lydia Ann, and Elizabeth N.) were born and married in Shalersville. Lydia Ann HALL married Sumner Delos ALLEN of Poland twp, Chautauqua, NY. These are my great great grandparents. Letters written by Lydia Ann indicates that she was well educated and may have come from a prominent family in Shalersville. Even thought the ALLENS of Poland were a prominent family, her letters seem to "talk down" about them them. 3. I have noticed a great deal of interest in the surnames of DAVIS and DAVIES on this mail list. This is a line I have been researching for a number of years, but from Columbiana, OH. I already understand that this is a very common name, but I still need to ask if anyone has Davis links to Columbiana. Other surnames are QUANTANCE, HIATT, FISHER, LAMBORN, ELLIS, AND ROBERTS. The earliest DAVIS that I have been able to document is Samual Davis b. before 1700 in Philadelphia, PA. This family is predominantly Members of the Society of Friends. If there are any possible DAVIS/DAVIES connections, I would appreciate sharing and comparing information. Ron Mlejnek Researching HALLS in Shalersville twp, OH
