    1. ([OHPORTAG])RUSSELL Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Marie RUSSELL who was the daughter of Carrie MCCONNELL and Merritt RUSSELL. The photograph was taken at the J. L. Tooker Studio in Ironwood, MI sometime in the 1890's with Marie appearing to be about 4-5 years old at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Marie and her family: Marie E. RUSSELL was b. in 1893 in Ohio to parents Merritt or Marritt or Merrett Ernest RUSSELL (1858-1958) and Carrie Boyce MCCONNELL (1867-1926 birth and death dates differ, as early as 1864 and as late as 1948 for death). Marie had one sibling, a sister Dorothy Boyce RUSSELL b. 1902. Sadly Marie died 1 Jan 1899 in Bessemer, MI. Her father Merritt was born 15 Jul 1858 in Brimfield, OH to parents Edward A. RUSSELL (1818-1912) and Ann FURRY (1820-1884), a twin with sister Mira or Myra J. RUSSELL. In addition Merritt and Mira or Myra had three additional siblings, Homer B.; Albert E.; and Warren A. RUSSELL, all born between 1847 and 1850. Merritt died in 1958 in Brimfield, OH. Carrie B. MCCONNELL was b. abt 1865 in Ohio to parents William H. MCCONNELL (1831-1914) and Savilla ROYER (1843-1923). Carrie was one of three children born to this couple including, Carrie B.; Clarence; and May Estella "Stella" MCCONNELL, all born between 1865 and 1871. Carrie is also buried in Brimfield, OH. I am hoping to locate someone from the family so that this precious old treasure can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    3. My brick wall from Portage Co. is Rachel Garrison, born about 1802, possibly in Virginia. She died 12 Jun 1850 and is buried in the Edinburg Cemetery. Rachel married Albert O. Calvin 15 Oct 1823 in Portage Co. I have much info on Albert and their children, but don't even know who Rachel's parents are. Is she related to Benjamin Garrison? Ephraim? Iliff? Thanks for any help. Rose (BTW, I have DNA tested at both FTDNA and Ancestry, and have uploaded my results to Gedmatch. Would like to compare results with any Calvin/Garrison descendant who has also tested.) --- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. http://www.avg.com

    3. My surname shout-out is for my great-grandparents, a stubborn brick wall.  Evan Davis and wife Elizabeth Williams immigrated to Palmyra in 1872 from South Wales.  He was a coal miner.  From the 1880 census, it appears that the family are tenants of David C. Davis, but there's no evidence of a family connection.  There is another young mining family living next door,  William S. Williams and his wife Margaret Hopkins.  They immigrated about the same time. In 1882 the family moved to Stark County.  I've recently learned that they were Baptists.  The Davis's had two children born in Wales, John, my grandfather and his brother Morgan.  Mary, Ann and Tom were born in Palmyra and another son, Howard, was born in Stark County.  I don't know the whereabouts of Ann or Morgan. I am helping my father, Elliott's son (Terry Busson) find family information and have also hit a wall with regards to information on Elliott Holmes. I have found quite a bit of information on the family branches, Forsyth, MacMullen, Balcom, Crossman, etc. but have not been able to find a death record for Elliott Holmes. I did find a Navy service number of 949 50 39, which may prove helpful. I just started looking at ancestry.com yesterday so this is all new to me. Not even sure if you still have an account, but I thought I might as well drop a line. If you have any info to share, I'd welcome it. I'll share the little bit of info I have gathered so far, as well. Take Care, Douglas Busson Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I've looked at newspapers myself and can't find an obit for Lucy, and there are no probate records for either Alvin/Alvan or Lucy. I compiled a long preponderance document, and everything points to Almanza belonging to the family of Alvin and Lucy, but there is no document specifically stating that he is their son. The Lewis family tree at Ancestry was submitted by one of my research pals, who is of the opinion is that the preponderance of evidence I've collected is sufficient proof. Someone else told me that she once had a "disk" that showed Almanza belonging to that family, but if she could find it, she would have no way of using the disk because she didn't have a program for it. I think the only hope is to find someone's family bible listing the family. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
