    1. Anthony Wayne CARREL (CARROLL)

    3. Who raised Anthony Wayne CARREL (CARROLL)? Anthony Wayne CARREL was born somewhere in western Pennsylvania 20 February 1806 and raised in Central Ohio. Anthony's parents were Philip and Mary CARREL who with their nine children John (b. 1798), Mary, Margaret, Joseph, Anthony, Catherine, Henry, Jane and Philip Jr. (b. about 1813) were in Jefferson County, OH in 1813. The father Philip Carrel died December 1813 while in the service of the United States during the War of 1812, and his estate was administered in the Court of Common Pleas in Steubenville, OH in 1814. Ephraim CELLARS (SELLERS) was appointed administrator. When word of her husband's death reached Mary she released Anthony Wayne, age 7, into the custody of a neighbor or family acquaintance to raise as his own child. We do not know who this person was. The court later appointed Ephraim CELLARS as guardian of the four oldest remaining children in 1814. Other names mentioned in the court documents are John HENDERSON, John WOLF, Abraham CRABB and Jacob SHELL (SHULL) as bondsmen and appraisers. Young Anthony thus became separated from his family at an early age, and was raised in Central Ohio. Anthony's records start up again in 1826 in Granville, Licking Co. where he married Miss Belinda ROOT, a daughter of Noble Root and Damaris BARRETT. Anthony married 2nd Orpha G. (GREEN, BUSHNELL) LINNELL after 1865. He died 27 April 1882 in Olathe, Johnson Co., KS. I am seeking any information on the whereabouts in Pickaway County of Anthony Wayne Carroll (Carrel) between 1813 and 1826, between the ages of 7 and 20, and who raised him there. I am also seeking any information about what may have happened to his eight brothers and sisters and his mother Mary, and any descendants. Philip Carrel Jr. may have married a FELTENBERGER in Harrison Co, OH in 1832. Eric
