To the list. Here is another entry from the Scrapbook of Delia Pearse of Lancaster, Ohio. NOTE: The surname Pearse is also sometimes spelled Pearce in these articles. There is no year on these two articles. PEARSE - CLARKE --At St. John's Episcopal Church in this city, on Thursday evening Feb. 22 by the Rev. John Scott, Mr. Joseph H. Pearse of Millersport and Miss Henrietta M. Clarke of this city. The marriage of Miss Etta M. Clarke, of this city, with Mr. Joseph H. Pearse, of Millersport, attraced a very large audience to St. John's Episcopal Church on Thursday evening to witness the ceremony. The parties made a fine and appropriate appearance on presenting themselves at the alter, and the impressive matrimonial rites of that church were performed by Rev. John Scott, the Rector, to the satisfaction of all present. Immediately subswquent to the ceremony, a reception of invited guests was held at the residence of Mrs. Joshua Clarke, which proved an occation of very pleasant character. The presents of the bride were numerous, rich and appropriate -- and the wedded pair have the congratulations of the Gazette on entering the hymeneal state under happy auspices. This article bears the date of March 24, 1886. Right Rev. Bishop Peterkin, of West Virginia, administered the rite of confirmation to Mrs. J. C. Kinkead, Miss Delia Pearse and Messrs. Frank W. Bope and John B. Older at St. John's Episcopal Church Wednesday evening. A large congragation was present, which was highly edified by the powerful sermon of the Bishop, founded on the text, "And they first gave their services to the Lord." (Hand written into the article was the name Mrs. John Pearse. Perhaps she was also confirmed but left out of the newspaper article.)
