C.F. CREIGHTON and family have moved into the property of Mrs. YOUNG on the corner of Washington and Union streets. ***** George PRESLER, the grocer at the corner of Pickawy and Mill streets, is erecting a large addition to his grocery building. ***** On Monday evening Circleville Chapter, No. 20, Royal Arch Masons will install Judge S.W. COURTRIGHT as most excellent Grand Scribe of Ohio Royal Arch Masons. ***** Another member of the Fourth Ohio, John W. WALKE, of Company A, Columbus, has found his last resting place in Porto Rico (sic). He died October 10 of typhoid fever. ***** The transports Missouri and Panama arrived at Fort Monroe Oct. 5, with 400 sick aboard among whom were the following member of Co. M Harry YOWELL and Philip G. HERRNSTEIN. ***** Lou YOUNGMAN, who has been conducting a fruit stand, etc., in a wagon at the corner of Court and Main streets for the past year or more, has disposed of the wagon and stock and left the city in search of work. ***** Jimmy MURRAY, who is training here for his bout with Denny GALLAGHER on the 14th, has accepted Eugene BEZENAH's challenge. He would like to meet him before the Louisville Athletic club or any club that will offer the best purse. ***** Dr. T.C. TIPTON of Williamsport left for a trip through Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska. He will spend a day or two at each of the homes of a number of relatives, attend the Omaha exposition and return in two or three weeks. ***** Quite an accident occurred this side of FORESMAN's mill Sunday evening. Four parties were racing and when near the mill where the road is narrow, they collided piling the vehicles against the fence. It is not known who the parties were or whether they were injured. ***** Sunday night the Christian Endeavor society of the Presbyterian church considered the subject of "Our Country" and patriotic songs, speeches, readings and bible quotations were participated in by the different members. Flags and bunting decorated the room. ***** Oakley and Harry FOUST, sons of C.C. FOUST of Ashville, came near being run down by a freight train at the elevator at that village last Monday night. They were in a wagon and were after cobs, but unfortunately stopped their horse on the main track. They were rescued by their father. ***** The following persons left here Monday morning for Pittsburg (sic), Pa, over the C & M.V. in a special car to attend the Knights Templar conclave: Dr. and Mrs. H.R. CLARK, Mr. and Mrs. J.L. KRIMMEL, Mr. and Mrs. Milt MORRIS, Mr. and Mrs. C.F. WEAVER and Miss Georgia MORROW, of this city; Dr. S.J. IRWIN, Tarlton; Mr. and Mrs. O. M. HOUSER, Clarksburg; Mr. and Mrs. James WARD, Ashville; Eugene BROWN, Clarksburg; William F. HUGHEY and A. T. TUTTLE, Yellow Bud. There will also be seven from Amanda, making a party of twenty-five.
