Circleville Democrat and Watchman Jan. 26,1877 The Zanesville Signal, 20th, says: Mrs. Susan BROWN, widow of the late Captain BROWN, of Cambridge, committed suicide last Monday night, by taking arsenic. Mrs. BROWN had been a widow about two years and was the mother of two children. For some time suspicions of a criminal intimacy between her and a prominent member of the U.P. Church, who is the father of a family, had been entertained. A few days ago Mrs. BROWN gave birth to a still-born infant, which was disposed of in a mysterious manner and the tongue of gossip connects the name of the above mentioned church member with the affair. Since this occurrence the friends of Mrs. BROWN had been watching her, as she had twice attempted self destruction, but on Monday night she eluded them and succeeded in carrying out her design. She was the daughter of Samuel OLDHAM, a prominent citizen of the county, and had always borne an unblemished character.
