What township? I have all of Walnut Twp. copied for 1830. There were the following Browns listed in that township: Joshua Brown Samuel Brown Wm. Brown Sr. Wm. Brown I have the entire county for 1820 copied; I checked that quickly and didn't see a Jacob there either, although there were quite a few Browns - Joshua, Brian, Samuel, Elisha, William, Joseph, maybe others. This was on another Ohio list. I am sure someone in Pickaway would be interested in the 1859 Circleville Directory. I have no financial interest, just passing on a bit of information. Mary A. I am researching Amos and Lewis Long, children of Samuel Long and Catherine Morgan Long, who were both born in Pickaway County. I found a reference to an uncle of theirs in a newspaper clipping, Jacob A. Long, who died 9 Oct 1891 in Circleville. Does anyone have a connection to Jacob A. Long, or the above Long family? Thanks for any help! Kim _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
I have found the burial place of my James W. and Nancy Bruce ANDERSON. They are buried in Pleasant Cemetery, near Mt. Sterling. This family all lived and died in Derby, OH On the plot is James W. , his wife Nancy Bruce, a daughter, Mary E. BROOKS, a son Charles. There is also an Altha ANDERSON WICKELL I have no record of James and Nancy having a daughter by that name. Would appreciate hearing from anyone that might have info on her. There was no marriage record in Pickaway Co. for any ANDERSON mar. to an Altha.
Hi List: Is anyone researching the surnames of Leazenby, Leazenbee, Kent, Gunnett, Henderson, Williamson, Burgett? Thanks! Karen Conley klconley@webtv.net
I was looking through our old local newspapers this morning and came across the obituary for Benjamin A. Timmons. I know there are several Timmons researchers from Pickaway and Ross Co., and knowing that there were several Timmons families that came to Indiana, I'd thought I'd send it along - maybe it will help someone. Adina Lafayette Daily Courier, October 6, 1888 Lafayette, Indiana (Tippecanoe County) BENJAMIN A. TIMMONS Died, Tuesday evening at his home in Bolivar Township (this is in Benton Co., IN), after a long and painful illness, principally of a rheumatic nature, BENJAMIN A. TIMMONS, aged 72 years. He was buried under the auspices of the Masonic fraternity, at Gilboa church Thursday afternoon. The Rev. J.J. Thompson preached the funeral discourse. A very large number of relatives and a large number of the order attended. BENJAMIN TIMMONS was born in Pickaway County, Ohio, April 10, 1816. In 1829 he moved with his family to Tippecanoe County. Two years later they moved to Benton County and built the first log house, 16x32, which is still standing. This was the first permanent settlement made in the county, and for two or three years was the only one. Frequently MR. TIMMONS has passed near what is now Oxford before a house was built. In 1844 he was married to SARAH J. ANDERSON. Five children were born to them. In 1842 he was elected coroner, afterwards served two terms as sheriff and was also chosen county commissioner. For many years he took an active part in public affairs. he was a worthy man and an honored citizen. - Oxford Tribune.

Hello everyone, Could someone tell me, for the purpose of checking census', what part of town would the corner of Ohio and Clinton be in Circleville? I need a township or enumeration district name. Also, would anyone have information on a woman who was known as the "Flower Lady" in Circleville, because I guess she had an eloborate flower garden at her home. There was supposed to have been an article on her in the town newspaper, but I have no date for it. Her name was Sarah Bartley. (1st married name Rambo, maiden name Thomas). The above location was the address given for her residence at the time of her death (1958). Could her home have been located there? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Joan
Hi Lister, I tried to put you in touch with somene who could answer your questions re Circleville. All I can pass on is a name of someone who might know (see below). If anyone else on the list has a phone directory could you fill in a contact to Fred Wittich? Good Morenign Listers! I currently researching the following family. I am looking for information on John BAILEY--vitals, parents, and siblings. Also looking for more children for John and Jane STUFFLEBEAM BAILEY. Her obit mentions she had more but gives no names. Another interesting tip is that John was a veteran of the War of 1812 and later in life succumbed to the effects of wounds he suffered. Am also trying to determin which STUFFLEBEAM family Jane was a member of as there seems to be more than one family in the Pickaway County area. I will gladly grovel at the feet of anyone who can help further these lines. I am still looking for information on Elijah P. Wright, b. PA. died Pickaway County OH. 26 Dec. 1836, age 43. His wife may have been named Catherine. Two known children, Harriet Wright Powell, b. Harriet Wright Powell died in May 1909. How does Elijah P. Wright connect to the PA. Wrights, and which family? Thanks for any help, Mary A. Powell Sutphin
We have noticed that the link we have to "the Federal land title records for the Eastern Public Land States, issued between 1820 and 1908" has a horrible picture and the statement "Owned by PoisonBox" instead of the land records. ....Having been off-line for a couple of months, I am wondering if this has been noticed and perhaps there is a new/different URL for the land record page..... one I haven't heard of as I've been *gone* .... ???
