    1. Creighton Family
    2. Karen Conley
    3. Hi List: I am looking for information on the Creighton family of Pickaway County. I believe that my great great great grandmother, Elizabeth (Eliza) Creighton, who married Thomas Henderson in PA around 1825, was related to them. The 1860 census in Pickaway County states that she was born in Delaware. Any info at all will be most appreciated. Thanks! Karen Conley klconley@webtv.net

    1. Toll Roads
    2. Mary Anne
    3. There was a query on toll roads on one of the PA. lists this morning. Reminded me, the road going from Darbyville to Circleville, (Road 3?? looking at the Muhlenberg Twp. cemetery map.) I think this was once a toll road. Also in this tucked away memory, I think the collector lived in the vicinity of the Carpenter place. My dad said the toll was a nickel. I don't remember it being a toll road, but apparently my dad did. Or he had heard stories of it. He was born 1909. Is there any information on toll roads in Pickaway County? Thanks, Mary A. Powell Sutphin

I am working on the McKinley family of Amanda township, and Monroe married one of my William Jr.s daughter of which I have the marriage certificate. I have the census data for 1850 for Walnut Twp in Pickaway and the first female shown is Minna, I believe age 16, and the last child shown was Monroe. 3. Recently there was a query for Valentine Keffer on the list. Since at the time I had no information, I deleted. I have found a little information on Valentine Keffer in "Partition Records of Common Pleas." Court Terms Oct. 1836 to June 1873. By Dan Hearl. 1. 1800/Pickaway/ KEEFER
    2. Good Morning, I am looking for some information on a Valentine KEEFER. f/o Katherine KEEFER WORK. Valentine is said to be buried in Circleville, Pickaway, OH. Can someone please tell me the Twp for Circlevile? He was also alleged to have been an editor of some newspaper there and had something to do with the Legislature? I am looking for several reason, one being I am trying to find out how many children he had besides three that I know of, Marie; b. abt 1799 in PA; Katherine; b. Feb 19, 1800, place unknown; Elizabeth;b. September 10, 1810. I am also trying to find out who Valentine's parents were. I posted in the Fairview mailing list as this is where most of these events took place, except for Valentine. Is there some kind soul that could help me out? Another reason I need this information is, I have in my possession a 173 year old Bible that belonged to Katherine KEEFER WORK. You can view it at my website: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~jstkat/index.html The information that is contained in the Bible is also there. Along with my conclusions, minus the dreaded hanging of David Work. I just found about this hanging and have still not accepted it. Hopeless romantic in me I guess, that and the fact that he stated he was innocent. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. I apologize for my ramblings, but this is so very important to me. God Bless Kat JstPlnKAT@aol.com

    1. Fred Gulick
    2. Mary Anne
    3. The will of Fred Gulick, written 10-6-1831, probated 3-8-1837, listed in "Early Hampshire County (VA) Records." It states Fred is of Pickaway County, the will is witnessed by (Rev.) George Ambrose and John Richart. No widow is named, children named are 1-Polly, who he seems to live with, 2-Amos, 3-Elisha, 4-Stephen, "youngest son," "All my children," evidently there are other children not named. Can anyone explain why this will was probated in Hampshire Co. VA.? Was one of the older children living there? Is there a connection between the Ambrose and Gulick family? Rev. George Ambrose did come from VA., we don't know where. Any help appreciated, Mary A. Powell Sutphin

My Grandmother Sonora Helen (Leeth) Wright b. 4/22/1905 Pike County D. 3/3/1966 Circleville, Pickaway County was believed to be named after her Grandmother Sonora C. Griest b. 1857 d. 1905 married James Hoover. Sonora Griest's father was Milton and his father,s name was John Griest . Have no dates on Milton or his father. There maybe some connection. 3. Hi List: I am wondering if anyone has access to the 1860 Census for Pickaway County. I really need a look up of my great great great grandmother, Elizabeth Henderson. 1. Michael Joseph Roach
    2. My husband's great-grandfather, Michael Joseph Roach, was born about 1851 or 1852 in Circleville, Ohio (according to his obituary) to Patrick and Catherine (Loftus) Roach. I contacted the Catholic church there but they have no record of his birth. I heard from family members that he was actually 1/2 of a set of twins but the other child died. Does Pickaway county have birth records that go back that far? Does anyone have any other suggestions of how I might find his birth record? So far I haven't found a family Bible or anything like that. Catherine and Patrick were in New York in 1850 and in Chicago by 1860 so I don't have any record of them in Ohio. I don't know if they had relatives in Ohio or not. I am stumped. Thank you for any help that you might be able to give me. Nancy Roach, Tucson, AZ
