    1. Palm
    2. Roland Schneider
    3. Hello list, I found in the archives that someone has Johann Ludwig PALM and Mary BAILEY. I would like to fill in the information on Mary Bailey. The information I have states that she was born in PA or OH in 1832, which I think is incorrect. Their son, William H., married Hannah STOUT and Olive ARMSTRONG. I don't have anything about William H. Palm and Hannah Stout. I have many pages of Palm history, my husband's gr. grandmother was Barbara PALM, who married William F. KEMMLER in Circleville, OH. Barbara Palm was the daughter of Jakob Wilhelm PALM and Anna Mary STIERLE. Ruth Schneider

    1. 1889 Circleville Bowling Alley
    2. SEYFERT, BENDING, WEGERLY Circleville Democrat and Watchman Nov. 11, 1889 Carpenters who have been employed by Max SEYFERT, the past month, building two bowling alleys in the basement of the WEGERLY block, recently purchased by him, completed their work last week, and there was a grand opening, friday evening, and the place was crowded, and has been largely patronized ever since. The alleys are 70 feet long, wide, and as smooth as glass. The balls, at a cost of $100, are the finest in the State, made of ligerm wood, as smooth as billiard balls, weighing from one to fifteen pounds. The place in charge of Capt. H.R. BENDING, who thoroughly understands the business. While Mr. SEYFERT's place of amusement is in the basement, it is, to say the least, an inviting and comfortable place, no business room in this city presents a finer appearance. It is the only place of amusement in our city where no intoxicating drinks are sold. No small boys are admitted, unless accompanied by their father. (No further info.) Cathy

    2. (These articles appeared in the newspaper below about other areas, like our current day associated press.) Circleville Democrat and Watchman Jan. 26, 1877 The funeral services over the bodies of the unidentified dead of the Ashtabula bridge disaster, took place last Friday. Nineteen bodies were lowered in the grave at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, near that place. The clergy of Ashtabula, assisted by two Episcopal ministers from Cleveland, held joint services with the Masonic order at the grave Three bodies still remain in the vault in the hope that friends may yet be able to identify them by pieces of clothing clinging to them. The Lebanon Patriot says> Aaron KEEVER, a farmer in this vicinity, sold a short time ago, a lot of 35 hogs averaging 507 1/2 pounds. Thomas SCOTT, an adjoining farmer, also sold 50 hogs averaging 502 1/4 pounds. If there are any two lots of hogs raised in Ohio that will beat this let hog men show up the figures. The Piketon Courier, 18th says: The Scioto commenced raising Monday night, and about two o'clock Tuesday morning the ice broke up with a loud noise. Considerable damage was done to the shipping at this point. Two stern-wheel canoes, a john-boat and a side wheel skiff were torn from their moorings, their crews barely escaping with their lives. 2. Circleville Democrat and Watchman Jan. 26,1877 The Zanesville Signal, 20th, says: Mrs. Susan BROWN, widow of the late Captain BROWN, of Cambridge, committed suicide last Monday night, by taking arsenic. Mrs. BROWN had been a widow about two years and was the mother of two children. For some time suspicions of a criminal intimacy between her and a prominent member of the U.P. Church, who is the father of a family, had been entertained. A few days ago Mrs. BROWN gave birth to a still-born infant, which was disposed of in a mysterious manner and the tongue of gossip connects the name of the above mentioned church member with the affair. Since this occurrence the friends of Mrs. BROWN had been watching her, as she had twice attempted self destruction, but on Monday night she eluded them and succeeded in carrying out her design. She was the daughter of Samuel OLDHAM, a prominent citizen of the county, and had always borne an unblemished character.

    2. Circleville Democrat Watchman Jan. 26, 1877 Last Tuesday evening about one hundred friends of Mr. and Mrs. Julius WEILL, gave them an agreeable surprise, it being the twentieth anniversary of their wedding. The occasion was one of rare enjoyment. Among the many valuable presents given the happy couple, that of Germain Joseph, a fine China tea set, consisting of forty two pieces, deserves special mention. The affair was managed by Mrs. A. MILLET and Mrs. J.G. BENNETT, and of course was a success. Last Monday, Sheriff HARTMEYER made the following sales: The lot and shop on Main street, Circleville, adjoining Star Restaurant, case of Frederick SNYDER vs. Henry CRIST, et.al., to George ZWICKER, for $2,250; appraised at $2,500. The island, in Scioto River, between Circleville and State Dam, containing 38 and _____ acres, to Edward SMITH, for $32.80 per acre. The ROSE and FORESMAN farms, in Deercreek and Harrison townships, were also offered, but no bidders. Cathy
