My gr. grandmother was Matilda Ann Moore, married to Ward B. Powell of Ashville and Walnut Twp. Pickaway Co. OH. She was d/o George Moore and Malinda Hoover who m. Pickaway Co. 1863. George Moore born ca. 1833 either in PN. or TN. I cannot find information on this family after the 1880 Pickaway Co. Census. (Other then Matilda Ann's family) Children listed in 1880, Mary E. b. 1863, Anna b. 1866, George b. 1868, Clara b. 1874, Charlotte b.1875, Laura b. 1877. If names are familiar, please contact me. Thank you in advance, Mary A. Powell Sutphin
Don't know what key I pressed..didn't get to correct the original, please excuse my fumbling here. Anyway, Elonzo and Ann Hein had the one son, Fred. this is not documented. Much of the information stated is in the form of actual records. There is a lot of family history that I could share. Perhaps off line would be the best way. There are several names that are of interest...Benjamin Franklin, the name Curtis, name Sprague, and Sarah Arvella. Do any of these show up in your records? I think they must be family names from the Rogers side. Again to all, please excuse the very inept method of transfering data. Hopefully, the content rather than the manner will be of primary interest. So many have helped me, may this help others. Bee
Hello, Maxine..Well, this is exciting!!I have not known anythng concrete about Elizabeth's family other than most of her children say she was born in Ohio.So glad to meet you. Please accept my condolences for the loss of your sister. Your mention of Ananias sent me scurrying to find a faded, tattered piece of paper that I have been carrying around for over forty years. There my mother had written : Ananias Rogers , lived in Delaware, was a farmer and had taught school. Rumored to be a cousin of Commodore Rogers, who left the service of England to take charge of the American fleet(war of 1812?). After the war settled in Delaware. He was married to Anna Gordy.By the name Rogers she has written..Sam Neph served in the civil war. (I don't know what that meant and the page was torn off there, might have been other information now lost.).. Below is the information that I have on the children of Nicholas and Elizabeth. Hi, Bee Elizabeth Ann Rogers had a sister Mary Jane Rogers. Mary Jane married Isaac Church Keck--my great grandparents. It looks like you and I are cousins. I would appreciate the info you have as I am trying to trace the descendants of Ananias and Anna Gordy Vance Rogers. I live in California but was fortunate to be able to research (in person) the area of Circleville and Lancaster. My sister and I traveled and researched there. We had planned to return for more research but my sister passed away with cancer. I would really appreciate any help you can give me on this family. Do you know Ananias Rogers parents? I am researching Henry Russell who lived in Bedford Cty, Pa during early 1800's. His daughter Rachel married Henry Imler in Bedford Cty and moved with him back to Ohio, Pickaway County (Whisler). Henry Russell was born approx. 1767. Any help would be appreciated. Barbara: I see your listing. Max told me that the emails I sent from my office few wks ago probably did not go through. So, I just imagine the one I sent to you was on "that list". So, just touching base to apologize. Hope you are doing well. And as in previous email (which you probably did not get) I do have some records of Joseph Tilton and military service. I just have been so busy this summer, I have not done a thing re: genealogy. Cousin Joan had open heart surgery and has sure had a long road to recover. til later, bev ----- Original Message ----- From: <BTilton544@aol.com> To: <OHPICKAW-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, October 26, 2000 6:41 PM Subject: Re: [OHPICKAW] Re: GORDY/CRABILL/TILTON > Toni, > Sorry, I don't have your GORDYs or CRABILLs, but thought it interesting that > my TILTON family also migrated from Pickaway County to Macon County, IL at > about the same time as yours. Hi, If you find any with the name Lape, I would be interested, also. About all I have is the marriage of Nicholas J. Lape I to Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Rogers and their 3 children: Clarissa C. b ca 1846, Marie M. b ca 1848 and Benjamin b ca 1849, all born in Pickaway Co. I have not found marriage records, etc. Elizabeth Rogers was later married to William Bailey (22 Dec 1841). They lived in Marion Co., Ill. on 30 August 1857. In the Springfield, Ill. City Directory, in 1938 Bailey, Wm. J. (Marie) was employed at the Havanna Stockyard. Do you have information that could help me? Thank you. Toni, Sorry, I don't have your GORDYs or CRABILLs, but thought it interesting that my TILTON family also migrated from Pickaway County to Macon County, IL at about the same time as yours. Joseph TILTON was born Jan, 1841, in Pickaway (parents unknown) and married Mary ADAMS in Macon Co, IL, in 1867. They are found in Pike County, MO, in the 1870 census. I appreciate hearing about any possible TILTON connections. Thanks, Barbara Tilton in Florida
Louie, None of the names you mentioned seemed to match any of mine. I would still be interested in what ever you can tell me though. You never know when one thing will lead to another! Thanks, Bonnie
Hello, Pam..do you still have the books and are willing to do a lookup for me? If so, the name is Lape.I think that there were few by that name. If there is a lot of information I certainly don't expect you to send it. I do understand.Just say so. So, at your convenience, would you please check the early marriage book? I have the data on Nicholas J. Lape who married Elizabeth Rogers in 1841. I'm looking for his father and perhaps others who would be siblings. Thanking you in advance. Bee...lazybee@uswest.net
Hi Toni, My John Gordy, Sr. was born c. 1760 in DE and his son John Gordy, Jr. c. 1790 in Sussex County, DE. JG Sr. married Elinor Ellenor and JG Jr. married Sarah Smith. At least that is what has been passed down in my family. I'm trying to track down some proof. JG Jr might have had a son named John along with 10 other children. Elijah is mine.
