Looking for info about the following women. I found Nelson Spencer doing the following in the following censuses: 1860 Census, N. W. Spencer (age 11) is living with a woman named Elizabeth Swope, age 43, occupation Tayloress. She is from Vermont. Page 161, Monday Creek census. Anyonoe know anything about her? I know she is not Nelson's mother but she may be an aunt, although that is a guess right now. 1870 census has Nelson (21) and his brother Stephen (25) working as farm laborers for Amanda Rig?esten? (really faint and hard to read), age 46. Laura, age 15, domestic servant, Clarrisa? (again, really faint and hard to read), age 12, helps mother. Robert age 8, attending school. Monday Creek Township, census, page 19. Anyone know these women? Can you help shed light on these people? Happy to share if you are related to Nelson W Spencer (1850 to 1915). I have lots on him but this time frame (1850 to 1874) is foggy. sharon Sharon Burton-Hardin CEO, Anthrobytes Consulting 909-369-8590 www.anthrobytes.com
One last note - looking at the marriage records of Perry co (If you have not gotten these books from the Historical society, DO SO! great to have) Elizabeth Vanorumn married James Swope in 1847. Nelson W. Spencer's mother was named Amanda Vanorman. She had a sister named Elizabeth. Anyone want to take odds this Elizabeth Swope is her sister? Hooray! For those of us researching the Abraham Spencer line, I know where the children of Orsemus Spencer and Amanda Vanorman went after Orsemus died in 1850. At least where Nelson went. Now all I have to do is find more info about the Swopes. Always something! Anyone in Perry co want to do some marriage record pulls for me? I am in So Cal and the distance is difficult. sharon Sharon Burton-Hardin CEO, Anthrobytes Consulting 909-369-8590 www.anthrobytes.com -----Original Message----- From: Sharon Burton-Hardin [mailto:sharonburton@earthlink.net] Sent: Saturday, February 16, 2002 1:34 PM To: OHPERRY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [OHPERRY] Elizabeth Swopes or Amanda Rig?esten? between 1860 and 1880 Looking for info about the following women.
