Regarding the will of John Wilson who died 1823 and had a wife Jane and the following children: Samuel, Sara, John and James and other children not named: My ancestor John Wilson, born about 1796 in PA, is listed in the 1830, 1840 and 1850 Perry Co., Hopewell Twp. census. He and his wife Esther had the following children: Rebecca, Charles, Esther, Josiah, David, Uziah, Mary and Rachel. Since John's wife Esther was also from PA, it is possible they married there before moving to OH. Most of their family moved from OH to IA around 1850. Since I do not know who John's parents were, it is possible that he is the "John" listed in the will as a son of John and Jane Wilson. Were any of your ancestors born in PA? The Perry Co. Marriage Book reports a marriage between James Wilson and Magdeline Garliner, so it is possible that he was the "James" listed in the will. Other than my ancestor John, there was only one other Wilson living in Hopewell Twp by 1850 Census: Madilene Wilson, b. PA, and her children. (There were lots of Wilsons living near each other in Hopewell twp in 1830.) As far as the location of the land purchased by a John Wilson in 1811: I do not think it is possible for the land you described to be in Perry Co., since "Range 5" would be much further east in OH.
