    3. I might add my 2 cents worth -- I'm researching BEERY in Perry Co., and I have found many of them in records listed as Berry -- so yes, you have to look at ALL options...... I've noticed on the census that the ages don't coincide with an individual from 10 years before. It must be that people didn't tell the truth about their ages (for whatever reason), census taker mistakes or maybe some people just didn't know their accurate age. Who knows. Maybe some other people on this list could give a different slant to this. Also, have you tried other spellings of Barry? Census takers spelled phonetically sometimes. Try Berry. There are a lot of people in this area with the last name of Berry. I go to the archives in Logan to look up my ancestors in the old books. The same thing takes place there. The people who transcribed the record did it in long hand and the same people I'm tracing will have many different spellings of first and last names. Some of the people in the "old days" didn't even know how to spell their own names. My Grandfather didn't and he signed his name with an X. You can imagine the census takers and transcribers back then just spelling the last names the way they heard it. There were a lot of people from foreign countries too who couldn't speak English or their English was broken. Most birth dates in Ohio were not recorded until 1867 when it became law to do so.
