    3. Hello. I'm new to this list and would like to take a minute to post my information. I'm looking for further information on Margaret "Peggy" DeGarmo who was married to first Peter O'Leary, then to Thomas Martin Downey. She also had 3 children out of wedlock prior to her marriage to Peter O'Leary. The 3 children were: Cushing, Angeline and Jacob DeGarmo. She was married to Peter O'Leary (born abt 1798 in County Carb, Ireland) abt 1836 in Perry County, Ohio. They had one known child-James Peter O'Leary born June 26, 1838 in Perry County. It is unknown to me when Peter O'Leary died, but, according to a cousin, Margaret remarried Thomas Martin Downey January 9, 1854. However, I don't agree with this date, as she is listed with him in the 1850 Census in Monroe Twp of Perry County. Thomas died about 1858 in Ohio. On June 15, 1854, James Peter O'Leary married Rachel Shilling (born April 24, 1824 or 1826 in Morgan County, Ohio). They were married in Perry County. Rachel is the daughter of Rueben Shilling and Mary "Polly" Stedman. In 1850, this family was listed in Trimble Township of Athens County, Ohio. Margaret, James Peter & Rachel, and many of the children of Thomas came to the Liberty area of Vernon County, Wisconsin. I'm not sure if they came together. Over time (and as circumstances required, I think) the O'Leary named changed to Leary then to Larry. Along with these surnames some other families that came from this area fo Ohio to the same area of Vernon County, Wisconsin are: Jennings, VanDyke, Fish, and Shilling. It seems that they all connect and interconnect many times, the further I dig. I apologize for the lengthy post, but would appreciate any leads on this group. Also, what types of vital records are available in Perry County for this time period?
