    3. Hi Ruth, VERY interesting indeed! I would be interested in the year, if you have it. Here is what I know about Josephs in Perry County ... My line came from Wales to Minersville (near Pomeroy) in Meigs County. After moving across the river to Mason County, West Virginia, for a while, my great-grandfather John Joseph moved to XX HollowShawnee in 1881. His first wife was Ruth Hughes, a neighbor girl (but properly Welsh, of course - the Welsh stuck together!) from Mason County. Their oldest daughter Rose married into the Ashbaugh family and they lived on East Walnut Street in Shawnee - the house is still there. Ruth died shortly after the birth of their third child, Daniel, in 1885. In 1886 John Joseph remarried. John had two brothers in Perry County. One was David Joseph, who died in 1904 in Shawnee. He is listed in the 1900 census as a widower, so HE might be a possibility for the husband of Ida. I don't know anything about any of his children. Another of John's brothers was William Joseph, who lived in Buckingham. He married a girl with the unlikely name of Vice - Vice Rosaball. It is listed that way in the Perry County records, but I think it was really a corrupted version of Vicki. William and Vice had four sons. One was named Daniel, born in 1899. I don't know anything more about him. The second son, Frank Joseph, married Helen and they are buried in the Buckingham Cemetery. I don't know anything more about the other two sons yet. There was ANOTHER Joseph family in Perry County. They were unrelated to me as far as I know, but they came from Wales to Pomeroy proper. One of the sons, William Joseph, who was about the same age as my relative in Buckingham, settled in Hemlock. He was a machinist in a coal mine there. I think he had two sons. One was named Arthur, as I recall. I have that written down somewhere. The wife of one of the Joseph boys was Mottie Sanders, as I recall. If you have any idea when this marriage to Nellie Meek occurred, I would be VERY interested in researching it further. Jim, We corresponded a long time ago about Ashbaugh's and Joseph's. I have since learned that a Nellie Meek married a Joseph, first name unknown, and had a daughter named Ida. She later married Andrew Jackson Ashbaugh, who was about 29 years older than her. They had no children. Do you have anything further that you can add to the Joseph connection?
