    3. Hello Barbara, I went to New Lex yesterday. Trying to find out who the Father of Henry Griffin (married to Sarah Rush) is. As you might remember, I was able to find on the 1860, Perry County census Allen Griffin (my grandfather) as a child of Henry and Sarah. Trekked up to the door of the archive building and it was closed. Went to the court house to see why. The lady that takes care of the records was not in that day so it was closed. Oh well! I made the most of the day by going through marriage, birth and land records. A lady by the name of Mary was very helpful and took the time to talk to me about the past records of Perry County. She said that the archive records in New Lex are not indexed yet. The old, old records are still at OU. They are in the process of micro filming the records in the court house (births and marriages) so they can send the old books to the archive building. (probably so they can be shoved in a box someplace along with everything else.smile Anyway, I did look at the copy of the recording of the marriage of Henry and Hannah thinking that the transcribed reporting to Latter Day sight may not have been transcribed correctly. It was and very clearly written is the strange surname of Hannah. Mary said that (of course) the person who married them probably didn't spell her last name correctly. I had some copies made of a lot of material pertaining to Hannah and Henry. George Griffin was Henry's admin. after his death sometime after 1849 or 50. I would like to send you this stuff to you if you are interested. There is a Michael Griffin mentioned in these legal documents also. This Henry seems to have come from Va. because of some mention of land that was in dispute in Va. that had to be settled after his death. Some of the land in dispute was in Saltlick, Perry Co. Also, a land grant from the US (President Jackson) to Henry. Included in some of the copies I made is George Griffin's filing of settlements after Henry's death. A lot of Perry Co. names and Va. names are mentioned in all of the documents. Let me know if you are interested or not. If so, I'll be glad to send you copies.
