Am I just misunderstanding this list or do others get as confused as me? Here's a note on the list and I have no idea what the original note was regarding. Shouldn't we be replying one-on-one if we have info. for a specific individual? Coincidentally, my name is Ruth and I sat for a bit trying to figure out if I wrote this person a note. Am I missing something?? Here's the note I'm referring to: Ruth, I think we went over this before. We probably have a connection, but no way to prove it.... My husbands gr'gr'grandmother Susan Sibley bn Athens Co 1824, m. in 1841 to Henry Draper. I don't have parents for her. Elaine Thanks for any help. Ruth Ann
Hi Ruth, By asking questions and making comments through the list, we all learn from it. Sometimes, something so remote can spark a light and you can learn from that. There are so many knowlegable people on the list it would be a pity to take our comments off list completely and email individuals with answers. I have learned much from reading other peoples answers to someone else's questions. This is how the List works. Hope this helps you understand how a List works... Happy Hunting. Hello, I think it is a good idea to reply to the list and the person individually, in response to the first posted message. (Use "Reply All") Other's on the list may be waiting for a response to the question as well, plus it shows everyone that people are getting help from their postings. I know I like to see that people are making progress thanks to the kindness and generosity of members of the list. After the initial contact, depending on the content of your messages, you can decide if the messages would be valuable to the list or should only go to the individual.
