    2. Keeping records in Ohioi. Some death records were maintain in Fairfield Co., Ohio in 1867. This can be found in the Probate Court [where marriages were kept.] In 1908, the responsibility for keeping births and deaths was transferred to the Health Department or Vital Records officies. In looking at the various counties, the dates run from 1856 to 1867 as keeping records. Births were also keep as early as 1856. These records are not complete, some with just the name of the person and the date of death. You might try the Probate Court for your deaths. Roberta
