They are probably not that overworked, but that just isn't their job. They are paid to put out the paper. It's true that some newspapers are more genealogy "friendly" with their lookups, but more and more are becoming less accommodating. Also more papers are charging for the lookups. I wish it wasn't so, but unfortunately I have found it to be true. You can probably find a way to get the obituary, but it will take some time and effort. Good luck! Elvin

    3. Have to defend a bit. I worked on a weekly newspaper for several years and I'm telling you there is no time to look up things for people. Between "getting the paper" out, getting the news, and taking care of other work, you are tired at the end of the day. OHS has most newspapers filmed. And they interlibrary. 3. Here's the Ohio Historical Society index for what newspapers they have, and which ones you can get through inter-library loan. The last time I did this, the fee was quite reasonable ($3, if memory serves.) http://dbs.ohiohistory.org/newspaper/home.cfm -Stacy Perry Genealogy: http://www.hockinggen.com/perry On Jun 7, 2007, at 8:35 PM, Marguerite Crist Calvin wrote: > Have to defend a bit.
