The Times Recorder January 18,1968 Jesse J. Fortney, 78, of Rose Farm, a retired coal miner, died at 8 a.m. Wednesday (Jan. 17) at his home. He had been ill but death was unexpected. He was born Dec. 12, 1888, in West Virginia, a son of Joseph and Mary Rowe Fortney. He was a member of United Mine Workers of America. His wife, Lillie, died in 1938. He is survived by a son, Joseph of the home: four daughters, Mrs. Frances Harbaugh, Mrs. Arlene Powell, Mrs. Jessie Dunwoody, Mrs. Mildred Inman all of Crooksville: two brothers, Perry of Corning Route 2 and Robert of Crooksville Route 1: a, sister, Mrs. Betty Riffle of Malta: 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Services will be held at the Crooksville Chapel of Cannon and Cannon Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friday with Rev. Wanneta White officiating. Burial will be in Iliff Cemetery.
