Sandra, you'll need to write to the records office of the county in which they died. In Ohio, death & birth records prior to 1864 are non-existent. They weren't required to keep records prior to then. Some counties did maintain the records on their own, but not many. The early records will only give name, date of death, age, cause, and where they lived. This site, http://www.ohiohistory.org/resource/archlib/index.html, has links to finding the addresses for the various records. Because the fees vary from county to county, it's a good idea to call particular office for costs before requesting. I've found at times that the websites are not updated with current fees and have had to send extra money. Some records are available from the organization listed above. Good luck!
