Hello All, Does anyone have information on Leroy Hudson Read born 13 Jul 1841 in Bearfield Twp, Perry Co.? His parents were John M. and Sarah (?) Read. Their children were Hester, Mary J., Leah C., Caroline T., Margaret M., Eliza E., Leroy Hudson, and Joseph B Read. I'm hoping he may be my Leroy Read. My Leroy was in the Civil War (Co. G, 1st. Reg. Cav, Ohio Volunteers, enlisted 6 Aug 1861 at Camp Dennison, OH). In 1865 he was living in Marathon, Ohio. He married Louise Lister on 18 Feb 1874 in Labette Co., KS. He died there on 7 Feb 1881 of his war wounds. He and Louise had three children: Hester L. b. 22 Feb 1875, Mark C. b. 10 Sep 1877 and Elizabeth P. b. 5 Nov 1879, all in Labette Co. My Leroy Read indicates on census records that he was from Ohio and his age on census records indicate a birth about 1841. He also had a daughter, Hester, so it makes the connection with Leroy Hudson Read more plausible. Are these two Leroy Reads the same man? Debbie in Oregon
