    3. This is an elusive little place. Here is info. about Jackson Twp., Middletown from the 1885 book. Middletown, situated in the southern part of Jackson township, was established in 1853-54, at the time work was in progress at the tunnel on the old Scioto & Hocking Valley Railroad. It is delightfully situated upon the ridge which separates the waters of Rush Creek from those of Monday Creek. The village has a post office, with mail every other day ; one church, two stores, several private residences, and about fifty inhabitants. However, from Howe's history another Middletown also existed (just a point of interest) Somerset in 1846.---Somerset, the county-seat, is forty-three miles easterly from Columbus, on the Macadamized road leading from Zanesville to Lancaster, from each of which it is eighteen miles, or midway, which circumstance gave it, when originally laid out, the name of Middletown. If you look at the map here: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~tfisher/fairfield_perry_history.htm Part V. Map of Perry Co., the one in Jackson Twp. is shown in Sect. 32. However if you look at the 1859 Plat here http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~tfisher/plat1859/jackson.htm it shows it in Sect. 33. I have to believe that the latter is correct. I base this on the fact that one of the churches there (according to the 1885 book) was once known as "Linton Church". The 1859 map shows several plats adjacent to the town site owned by "Linton's". So... given that information. Middletown would have existed at the present intersection of SR668 and TR335. A 1974 Plat map still shows some "small plots" at that intersection, but no current map that I have shows the town any longer. By the way, if you look at the 1859 map, a J. Kennedy owns property in Sect. 31, just west of Middletown and a school is indicated between that property and the town (in Sect. 32) Hope this helps. Tim ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stacy R. It was near the southern border of Jackson Township, Perry County. I have located it on an 1850 map - it's north of Maxville and south of Crossenville.
