I am researching Shrider, Love, Darsham, Tracy, Poorman, Bowman, Cowan, Orr, Cotterman, Ridenour I'm still trying to verify the mother of my G-grandfather, Levi Shrider born Oct 1830. His father married Elizabeth Kalderman (Cotterman) in May 1831 in Perry Co., 6 months after Levi was born. My grandfather, Whitmer Shrider, was the informant on his father's 1916 death certificate. He listed Peter as Levi's father, and Catharine Ridenour as Levi's mother, not Elizabeth. Whitmer spent most of his youth living with Peter and "Grandmother Elizabeth". He was one of the younger of Levi's 12 children, and sickly and his mother had her hands filled raising the other 11, as well as her son from a previous marriage. My mother recalls that Whitmer always considered Peter and Elizabeth more parents than grandparents. I feel that being so close to Peter and Elizabeth, he wouldn't have been confused about who his father's mother was. Any help would be appreciated. Donna Columbus, OH

MY John was born in PA and it would have to be prior to 1797 - I have the date 1756. And his father is John, one of three sons of the immigrant Johannes who was a veterinarian surgeon. There were three sons, Johannes (JOHN), John Adam and John George. John, Peter and Elizabeth Brown Crist came to Fairfield co, OH area. I know a brother Abraham visited them here, but returned to Union co PA. The only one I know for sure of their location is Elizabeth. Peter I am fairly certain was at Canal winchester, Franklin co, and so I suspect John was close too. And I have seen John Brown in Perry co. That's my theories but no proof. I always say that, then later on I'll find she was related. I think there were a couple Bigum families in Perry County, somehow related. My great grandmother was Lizzie Bigum, and her husband was William Ed Bigum. Obviously, they had different parents, but their last names are the same. I imagine probably at least second cousins, but I don't know. Lizzies parents were Jonathon Bigum and Emma Wallace, Ed's parents were George Bigum and Elizabeth Walters. I don't know if Geoge and Jonathon are related, although like I said, I think they probably were somehow. I have most of Jonathon's siblings and all of his children, and there is no George (or Sarah) in that group. To my knowledge, Jonathon was the only male to survive (out of his siblings) a diptheria epidemic. Jonathon's father was James Bigum, and I don't know anything about him. That is where I am stuck. I know James had spelled his name both Bigum and Bigham, and he was married in Muskingum County, and I think I have seen other Bigums there as well. You might want to try that route. I think they came to Perry Co. around 1835-1840. Sorry I couldn't be more help! If you know anything about James Bigum/Bigham, or William Ed and his parents, please let me know. One more thing...I know some Bigums went to Fairfield Co (Lancaster). They married as first cousins, and they changed the spelling of their name to Biggum so people wouldn't think anything about it. I am interested in Clark because it is possible my Rose Walker married a Clark. Two Walker sisters and a brother from Sugar Grove, Fairfield co, worked at a hotel at a 'Springs" in Perry co. My father, Roy Crist, who died in 1999, remembered as a young child having the family reunions at this hotel. It was at the time, quite a popular spot.
