    3. I'm still getting responses about Browns. Great! I will compile them all into a "megafile", adding other files I have collected over the years, to share with those who have contributed, and any others interested. It'll be big, but of possible use to us Brown searchers. Jim Brown

    2. Carole, I contacted the Probate Court in New Lexington ( I believe) some months ago regarding a consent to marriage for John Brown & Sophia Randolph. They said they would fax it to me but did not. I had told them I would be happy to pay them. Do you know if those consents(Oct. 1821) have published?. L. Deweese

    1. [OHPERRY] Perry Co. Browns
    2. Paul Augustine
    3. Jim- I, too, have Browns in my research. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get very far in my research. GEORGE W. BROWN was born December 27, 1845 in Perry Co., OH, and died November 18, 1878 in Perry Co., OH. He married ELIZABETH SCOTT MOORE December 22, 1868 in Perry Co., OH, daughter of JOHN MOORE and SARAH PRYOR. She was born October 23, 1843 in Muskingum Co., OH and died Abt. 1913. Notes for GEORGE W. BROWN: In the 1870 census for Bearfield Twp., Perry Co., OH, George & Elizabeth lived on a farm near her parents, John & Sarah Moore. Her siblings also lived on farms nearby. Children of GEORGE BROWN and ELIZABETH MOORE are: i. JOHN JAMES BROWN b. May 1870, Perry Co., OH. ii. SARAH EVA BROWN, b. August 16, 1871, OH. 2. iii. WILLIAM PRESTON BROWN, b. October 23, 1873, Perry Co., OH; d. February 10, 1943, Millfield , Athens Co., OH. He married EMMA MAE COLBORN June 07, 1893 in New Lexington, Pike Twp., Perry Co., OH, daughter of CHRISTOPHER COLBORN and HARRIET SHANER. She was born June 28, 1876 in New Lexington, Pike Twp., Perry Co., OH, and died November 08, 1962 in Millfield , Athens Co., OH. iv. LYDIA LOU BROWN b. August 18, 1877, Brown Run (?), OH d. September 15, 1927, Roseville, Muskingum Co., OH; m. WILLIAM L. IHINGER; b. June 22, 1870, Clay Twp., Muskingum Co., OH; d. February 01, 1948, Clay Twp., Muskingum Co., OH. I have been told that George W. Brown's parents were Elizabeth Pearce & George William Brown, but I have not been able to verify that - I do know that a George William Brown & Elizabeth Pearce were married in Perry Co, OH. Also, the birth date on George is also questionable - it was definitely ABOUT 1845. I would be happy to exchange info with anyone & would certainly welcome any assistance! I do have info on George & Elizabeth's descendants. 2. Williams
    3. Jim Brown, you have undertaken a huge project in sorting out the Brown's of Perry County & adjacent MU area. It would be interesting to get all Brown researchers together. I goofed last night, or early morning, in my note re. Browns, Horatio & Wm C. Here are the children of Wm. Brown b. 1771 DE d. 1857 MU, Clay (near Roseville): Joseph - 1792-1876, James J. - 1816-1899, Benjamin S. - 1818-1896, Elizabeth 1820 - 1900, Edward M. - 1824- ?, Wesley J. - 1825- 1872, Wm. C. - 1827-1905, Horatio G. - 1831- ? ( died NE, Carole Chapman has death) You probably have already noted the big gap between Joseph b. 1792 & James J. b. 1816. Wm Brown was, according to oral history & earlier researchers, married 3X. The children of his 2nd wife settled elsewhere in SE OH & became known to family researchers as the "Lost tribe". 3. Just wanted to let everyone know that from Wednesday to Sunday I will be offline as we are moving from OKC to Northern Indiana. So, for that time Brenda VanDyke will be in charge of watching over the list. I don't think she will have to do much since this is such a good group of people, so don't prove me wrong :) Go easy on her!!! If you have sent me an email in the past week or so and I haven't responded, please be patient. I've been packing non-stop (at least it feels like it)! Just wanted to give everyone a heads up and let you know that Brenda will be in charge for a few days! Thanks again Brenda! Best Regards, Angela Kneller - angela@kneller.com OHPERRY-L List Admin

    3. Thanks for the response to my BROWN plea. Yes, I'm trying to map the Browns in the Perry-Muskingum-Fairfield area, where they lived and when, in an effort to find connections and non-connections. I'll appreciate any information you care to provide. Carole: Yes, we have corresponded before. Your William Brown came through DE to Muskingum Co and some of his ch settled in Perry County, esp. William C. and Horacio. I still have you on file. I know more now, but not enough. There was another group of Browns that came from, or through, CT. A daughter Sarah m John Fowler from Baltimore. Then yet another Brown family was from Ireland, David Brown. A son Wm. m Sarah McMillan and among their ch were the brothers Wm (m Sarah McTeer), David (m Margaret McTeer), and Robert, (?m Nancy Glassford). Tony: Your Parley Brown is new, but I've seen the name Parley Brown before. can't find him in my notes just now. And Bruce mentions Absolam Chenoeth Brown, son of Isaac Newton Brown of Bearfield and Clayton Twps. The Browns of MD/PA and who lived in Monroe Twp (Robert and Sarah) seem to have some connection with the Perry/Fairfield Co Elder family from the Baltimore area, but I haven't pinned the connection down. Their s Henry died in the Civil War. Elijah Brown of Muskingum Co m Rebecca Ann Spillman 9 Aug 1836; where does he fit in? This is an ugly, uncertain job but it may pay off. Jim
