Hello. I am Anne Spencer descendant of James Spencer, jr. born 1730 and moved from PA to Perry County, OH abt 1797. There was a Nellie Brock who was some how related to my family. I just thought you might know about the connection. Thanks. Anne Spencer Stallman Dallas, Texas
Hi everyone, I'm new to genealogy so please bear with me. I am looking for info on my gggf Solomon L. BEYER, married to gggm Sarah J. CRIST, and parents to Laura, Harlan (ggf), Francis, Tennison, Arthur, & Vernon. According to my Great-Aunt, Solomon changed his name from BOYER after a spat with family, immigrated from Germany, (or vice versa) and worked as a Perry County school teacher in the late 1800's. I would like to know, is there a listing of the schools and their teachers between 1870-1910? I would like to know where he taught. Thank you for all your assistance, Sheila ________________________________________________________________ CPAs . . . Making Sense of a Changing and Complex World.
I'm fairly new to the list, and thought I would pop in with my "most wanted" Perry Co. ancestors. They include: Matthias Reinbold (Rinebold, Rinebolt, etc) and his wife Elizabeth John Good & his wife Mary Cobal Matthias & Elizabeth's son Daniel married John & Mary's daughter, Julia, approximately 1825-6, as their oldest daughter (my gg grandmother) Elizabeth was born in 1827. I have Matthias' death date as 1828 in Perry Co. >From an online "Good" newsletter, I have a John Good (Sr.) as coming to Perry Co. by 1806 (at least he is a taxpayer in 1806, although he didn't sell his Somerset Co. PA property until 1807). This John Good died in 1819 in Perry Co., and am wondering if this John Good could be the father of the John Good who married Mary Cobal--dates on this "Jr." are 1774-1852. The time frame fits, just haven't found anything yet to confirm that my John Good is the son of the 1806 tax-paying John Good. If anyone can help, or is researching this family, I would love to hear from you. My 3rd great grandfather is Henry B. Yost and he was the proprietor of the "White Horse Tavern" located on the waterfront in Thornport. I'm looking for a little info on this tavern, if anyone might know anything about it or maybe have a picture. I'm assuming that it is not there anymore but what does stand on the original site? Henry was born on December 17, 1798 in Virginia, married Barbara Knight on April 19, 1825 in Licking County and died on February 9, 1856 in Thorn Township. He is buried in the Methodist Cemetery. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!! Chriss Lyon St. Joseph, Michigan spinaltap@qtm.net

Well Teresa, I would be interested in knowing more about Julia Belle Garey, who married James Thomas Clark in Perry county, 1896. She was brn abt 1875, died in 1919. She had two known children Byron -----Original Message----- From: Teresa Garey [mailto:perrygenealogy@yahoo.com] Sent: Friday, December 28, 2001 12:56 AM To: OHPERRY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [OHPERRY] Perry Co Newsletter Hi Ruth...All this interest in my last name..wow. Yes there was a Bessie Garey, I think she's my husbands grandmother. My husband's dad was Leroy "Roy" and died about 23 years ago. My husband's mom is working on the Garey side, so I send her all the great queries that come my way. I've forwarded your message to her and I hope she contacts you. Anyone else interested in the Garey, Wilson, Evans, Glass families? I'd be happy to forward. Thanks all.. Smiles, Teresa Garey Editor Perry Co Genealogical Society
Researching George Reed m. Susannah Wolfe in 1821, Perry Co. Their son John Reed m. Mary Brock, dau. of John & Anna Kummer Brock, in 1863. John d. 1899 in Perry Co and Mary Brock Reed d. 1911 in Perry Co. John & Mary's son, John m. Martha Etta Moore, dau of McClung "Mack" and Martha Jane Street Moore, in 1899. McClung Moore m. Martha Jane Street in 1867 in Perry Co. McClung was a Civil War vet that was injured during the war. They had three children. McClung b. 1844 (location unknown)and d. 1882 in Perry Co. Martha b. 1848 or 1849 and d. 1934 in Perry Co. I know that there are alot of folks researching the Street sides; therefore, I am concentrating on the McClung Moore family. I can not determine his parents. I know that he is related to McConkey Moore but unclear as to the exact lines. These Moore's settled in Bearfield Twp and some of them are buried at Iliff Cem. in Harrison Twp. I am searching for information regarding the Reed, Wolfe, Kummer, Brock connections and especially the McClung Moore connection.
