    3. Jerry, you may write the Perry Co. Gen. Society & see if they have the 1919 obit on file, which I doubt. Otherwise, you may consider contacting someone to look through the microfilmed papers at the Historical Society in Columbus. I have checked the Pike Twp.Cemetery Index, which includes New Lexington Cemetery, for the Souders. There are none with the given names of Philomena & John. Carole Williams williams@sunet.net

    1. [OHPERRY] Obit
    2. I am in need of an obit for my great grandmother, Amelia RAAB. She died 06 April 1919 in Corning and was buried in the New Lexington Cemetery. At the time of her death I believe that she was living with her daughter and son-in-law Philomena and John SOUDERS. I also would like a copy of the obit for them, if, it can be found. I believe that they were living in New Lexington in the early to mid 1930s. Thanks in advance for any help that you may be able to give. Jerry Dittman Boonsboro, MD.

    2. Kathy Hoeldke
    3. URGENT REQUEST!: Now that we are over the holidays, This years is our 350th Anniversary of the landing of the Swartwout family in North America. The name has many variations such as Swarthout, Swartout, Swartwood, Swathwood, Swarthwood etc. We need help in gather lines, pictures, articles, wills, what ever you have stashed in your attic. We would really appreciated it if you shared with us what you had, there a literally thousands of us here looking for our roots, looking for connections. For our 350th Anniversary we need to updated our list of folks out there that are descendants somewhere along the line of any of those variations. We also have a family newsletter that cost only $5.00 per year, a real bargain. Just send it your mailing address. Every day I get e-mail asking me for help. Up here in Canada, there were two brothers that had huge families, all the remains of their descendants are the female sides. All the male went back to the States. I'm am the maintainer of "The Updated Swartwout Chronicles" People submit their lines-ged-coms etc. and I just drop them into the data base. It is everyone's database. Each person is responsible for their own submissions. It is not copyrighted. Kathy kathyhoeldke@sympatico.ca ldyk@hotmail.ca

    1. [OHPERRY] Carlisle/Hook/Conn Families
    2. Stephen Carlile
    3. I would like to contact anyone researching Carlisle, Hook, and Conn families in Perry County. Two sisters, Sarah Carlisle and Rebecca Carlisle, daughters of William Carlisle married (probably in Tuscarawas County) and lived in Perry County. Sarah, born about 1796 (Ireland?) married a George Conn and died in Perry Co., Ohio about 1871. She is apparently buried in Hemlock. I did not see any Conn family members on the Perry County 1860 census on the web site but don't know if all of the districts are transcribed. Sarah is supposed to be buried in Hemlock (I don't know if that is a cemetery or town). Rebecca was born about 1798 (listed as 52 on the 1850 census) apparently on the voyage over from Ireland to the US. She married a Samuel Hook and in 1850 the family is living in Salt Lick Twp. I did not see them on the 1860 census info on the Perry County website, so don't know if they are there or not. Rebecca's children are listed as Margaret 15, Mary 13, Samuel 8, and Stephen Hook 69, is living with them, I assume Stephen is Samuel's father. If anyone knows these families or can confirm any of the above, please contact me at your earliest opportunity. Thanks very much. Rebecca died in 1871 and is supposed to be buried in Drake (again, I don't know if this means cemetery or town).
