I am hoping someone out there can help me. I am looking for a company/person who can print my GEDCOM file into a tree on BIG paper (suitable for hanging up at a family reunion). I live in Central Ohio, but am willing to send it if a local printer can not be found. 3. >I am hoping someone out there can help me. I am looking for a >company/person who can print my GEDCOM file into a tree on BIG >paper (suitable for hanging up at a family reunion). Sheila, You'll probably have better luck finding a printer that can handle .pdf files, rather than GEDGOM files. Some genealogy programs, including Legacy 3.0 Deluxe (not the free version that you can download) and Family Origins 10.0 give the option to save their charts in .pdf format. If you can save it as a .pdf, then you should be able to have it printed at almost any decent-size printer, such as Kinkos, the Ink Well, etc. Hope this helps. Good luck! Amy

    1. Re: [OHPERRY] John/Jane Wilson, Madison Twp.
    2. Hi Wilson - From my book(s) on Perry County Marriage Records 1818-1914 (Male Index) published by the Perry Co. OGS, I can offer the following: 1820 - James Willson m. Nancy Clayton - book 1, pg. 16 1821 - James Willson m. Elizabeth Gorden - book 1, pg. 22 1827 - James Wilson m. Lydia McBride - book 1, pg. 78 1827 - James Wilson m. Magdeline Garliner - book 1, pg. 88 1830 - John Wilson m. Maria H. Moore - book 1, pg. 112 1832 - John Wilson m. Maria Grigg - book 1, pg. 131 1833 - John P. Wilson m. Mary Ann Hughes - book 1, pg. 144 1841 - Samuel Wilson m. Margaret Crane - book 2-3, pg. 25 And from the Female Index: 1826 - Sarah Wilson m. John Crain - book 1, pg. 62 1830 - Sarah Wilson m. Stephen Powell - book 1, pg. 111 1832 - Sarah Wilson m. Israel Moore, book 1, pg. 131 I also checked my Perry County "Hopewell and Madison Twp Cemeteries" book (Perry Co. OGS), and could find no "Wilson" listings in Madison Township and no "Baird" listings which would apply. As to your question about the location of "NW quarter, section 30, township 17, range 5); how could I find this location on a modern map of Perry County?", there is a very fine booklet called "Ohio Lands - a Short History" put out by the State of Ohio that you might want to get. The booklet was available (I got mine 4/2000) through the Ohio "Auditor of State", but the website addresses given in the book no longer exist when I just checked. You'd have to do a search, but it's well worth it to get the book. You might want to put out a question to the list. Good luck in finding your family, and I hope I gave you some leads which might help - Nancy Thompson (CA)

    1. [OHPERRY] John/Jane Wilson, Madison Twp.
    2. I found the following in "Gateway to the West", volume II (Family Tree Maker Archive CD #175, Ohio Vital Records #1, 1790s-1870s): Perry Co., Will Abstracts, 1818-1851, pg. 379: WILSON, John - dated 1-17-1823. Wife, Jane. Children: Samuel, Sara, John, James and other children not named. Executors: James, John and Samuel. Witnesses: Asbury Elder and Samuel Baird. Based on the structure of various Wilson families found in Perry Co. in the 1820 census, one of the unnamed children is my great-great-grandfather, Robert L. Wilson, b. 1805. Another unnamed child is his older sister, Mary, b. 1794, who married James Baird abt. 1818, based on the age of their oldest daughter, and thus would not have been counted with the family in 1820. The 1820 census for Perry Co., OH, shows a household headed by John Wilson. He is over 45 years of age, with two males between ten and sixteen years of age, three males between sixteen and twenty-six years of age, one female between sixteen and twenty-six years of age, and one adult female (presumably his wife), also over 45 years of age. My ggf was fifteen at the time of this census, so I assume that the family included one brother younger than Robert. I suspect that the children who were specifically named were over 21, and thus born before 1802. It is also a fair assumption that John was born before 1775. Can anyone on our list help with the following questions: 1. What cemeteries (probably Presbyterian) might have been near Madison Twp. in 1822? Do any of these still exist? Have the burial records been published for any of these? 2. Are there any records of marriages for Samuel, Sara, John, or James, probably in the 1820's or early 1830's? 3. Who would I contact to see if there are any probate records or probate packets extant from the 1820's? 4. On 12/23/1811, John Wilson is shown as purchasing land described as NW 1/4 S30, T17, R5 - C/481 (the code corresponds to NW quarter, section 30, township 17, range 5); how could I find this location on a modern map of Perry County? 3. Does anyone have any information about Margaret Ryan' marriage to Patrick Brannon in 1854. Margaret Ryan was from Perry County. They moved to Pickaway County. Also, my Grandfather, Allen Griffin, was born in Perry County 1854. His parents, Dr. Henry Griffin and Sarah Rush Griffin lived in Old Straitsville Does anyone have any information re: this family. If he was a Dr. (probably no diploma) there should be some documented history regarding his "practice" in the area. On two census he showed his occupation as a Dr. so he must have earned a living to support his 8 children. The family moved to Hocking Co. sometime between 1850 & 1860. Thank you for any information you may have or pointing me in the right direction. Sherole

Knew my Grandfather was born in Perry Co. so I was stuck on searching Perry Co. for his family. Found them in Hocking Co. All the children were born in Perry and then they moved to Hocking. In case anyone in Perry is searching for this family. They are: 1860 census, Hocking, Falls tsp. Henry Griffin, Dr. b. Pa. Sarah Rush Griffin b. 1. Re: [OHPERRY] Any Info On the HELSERS
    2. Mary E Carroll
    3. Hello, Crystal -- My great-great-grandmother was Sarah Cedora Helser, who married Sheppard Mechling. They lived in or near Glenford (Hopewell Twp.) all of their lives. I haven't done much research on the Helsers yet, so I know very little about them. "Family lore" within the Mechlings is that her family were Dunkards; she married out of the faith so was "shunned" by the family until after Shepherd's death in 1920. Sarah went by her middle name Cedora; she was born in Oct 1859 and died in about 1941 or so. My great-uncle (my grandfather's brother), who passed away a few years ago, recalled that Cedora and Sheppard were buried at St. Paul's Church near their son Frank; Frank has a large grave marker but no marker can be found for them -- don't know if it's missing, or if there was never one. At the present time (again, I haven't yet looked closely at this side of the family) I don't know who Cedora's parents were; I do know that she had an uncle Simon and an uncle who was a coffin maker. It could be that Simon and the coffin maker were the same person. If you ((or anyone else on the List)) would like information re: Sarah Cedora Helser's marriage and descendants, please let me know; I'll be glad to share. If anyone can share information on the family, it would be much enjoyed & appreciated! 3. One last note - looking at the marriage records of Perry co (If you have not gotten these books from the Historical society, DO SO! great to have) Elizabeth Vanorumn married James Swope in 1847. Nelson W. Spencer's mother was named Amanda Vanorman. She had a sister named Elizabeth. Anyone want to take odds this Elizabeth Swope is her sister? Hooray! For those of us researching the Abraham Spencer line, I know where the children of Orsemus Spencer and Amanda Vanorman went after Orsemus died in 1850. At least where Nelson went. Now all I have to do is find more info about the Swopes. Always something! Anyone in Perry co want to do some marriage record pulls for me?
