Hi Perry Co. List: I found a Samuel Palmer and Mary Balsley married in Perry Co., Jan. 25, 1832. Believe this could be my husband's great-great-great-grandparents. Does anyone have any information on this family? Anyone researching the Palmer's or Balsley's? Lois Quinn jimlois@indy.net
The cemetery I am referring to is south of I-70. From St. Rt. 668 go east on Snook Rd. (78) to Twp. Rd. 61. Turn north and go 0.7 mi. The cemetery is close to the road in a wooded area and can be seen from the road after the leaves are down in Autumn. Dean, I am not related to Eversoles..........that I know of. Where is this cemetery? I found one down a path beside a tree, you go along a creek, over a wooden bridge and turn to the right in front of a fence that belongs to a colonial pillared house with a mean looking watch dog. More of a cow path at this point circles around a hillside towards the left. Is this the same cemetery? I found it off the first road (that would be the first right) coming from Zanesville and just passing the Perry Co. line. The tree is about 1/4 mile on the left and has a state route marker nailed on it. Are there any JONES or JOHNSONS? The best of Luck anyway. Nan
Jerry, Thanks for the reply on the COTTERMAN. As far as the family history lookup, that would be great! Here is what i know about my COTTERMAN. James and Jane COTTERMAN 's Children Nettie born 23 April 1892 Married Jesse Helser, and died 28Mar1986 Nevin Arch Bert Nellie Hazel Lilly Do not know anything about James or Jane Cotterman. Nettie and Nellie were supposedly twins?? Dont really know much else about them at this point. This is just mainly information given to me by my mother. I have just begun on the Cottermans! Well, thanks in advance. Crystal Lynn Echols Researching: ECHOLS, HARGER, SHIELDS, HASTINGS, WALL, WARNER, PINKARD, SHOEMAKER,SHUMAKER, TURNER, JONES, HELSER,COTTERMAN, HULL, STEWART, ENOCH
Crystal I noticed your COTTERMAN surname in your message. I thought I would let you know that you might have to look under these variations of the surname: (C)KATTERMAN/C(C)KADDERMAN/ (C)KODDERMAN/ CORDERMAN. This is my son-in-laws family line under the CORDERMAN spelling. There is a 1100 page family history in the local library; if, you want any information I can check the history on my next visit, probably Thursday. Jerry Dittman Boonsboro, MD

I'm in search of anyone who has a connection with or interest in the obsure, private cemetery located in Sect.1 of Hopewell Twp., west of Twp. Rd. 61 in Perry Co. It has no sign but is called the "Eversole Family Cemetery" by the OGS and is on property currently owned by Waste Management, Inc. (WM). There were at least 22 people buried here in the 1800's. Rev. Elijah SCOFIELD, pastor of the Jonathan Creek Brethren Church bought this property from the government in 1810. The land was later aquired by the EVERSOLE's. Both families buried here in addition to CHENEY, CLARK, COVER/KOVER, and PLANK. Some of the stones are broken or off their pedestals. Mr. Arthur "Hal" Laube has been very helpful in providing information to me from his research of the families buried there. I, myself, am a descendent of the Eversoles but am not a resident of Perry Co. In November I met with the site manager of WM who is interested in making improvements to this graveyard. If you would like to see this site preserved, I would appreciate hearing from you. Dean Harkness
Hello folks, Looking for possible old burial place of the name CASSELL - John A and wife Catherine. Dates of birth about 1780 and death around 1825-1850. If someone has a cemetery index for Perry County, will be pleased to know of any CASSELL burials in that county. Thanks Anne
Thank you everyone!! You have been so helpful. I now have several places to look. (Feel free to e-mail me directly for a list.) Nancy and Barbara, That is a good idea about them not living there. I hadn't thought of that. He did own a lot of rentals later in life. Thanks for the lookups!! BaBa
Nancy, Would you please check in your books for my REYNOLDS family? I have Ebenezer C REYNOLDS married Maria "Elizabeth" YOST on 12 Aug 1825 in Perry Co, OH. She died there 3 Oct 1839. He died there 2 Dec 1861. He had subsequent marriages to Martha Wright and Mary Sellers. Thank you so much. Hi Baba - No luck in finding a marriage listed in my Perry County Marriage book between Eli "Joseph" GRAVES and a Rosa "Rosy" M. I looked during the time period you asked (although the book stops at 1914) and found no reference. Perhaps they married in a neighboring county where the bride lived. I also looked under "Groves", just in case of a misspelling. I also checked my Perry County Early Death Records and found no Eli or Rosa Graves recorded there, either. I hope you'll find Rosa/"Rosy" one day soon. Good luck in your search! Nancy
Hi Nancy, This is a long shot but could you look in your Perry County, Ohio book for a marriage between Eli "Joseph" GRAVES and a Rosa "Rosy" M ? My grandfather was supposed to have had a first wife that we know nothing about. It probably would have been between 1900 - 1918. While visiting Ohio a few months ago I went to Perry County and looked up land records. I did find "Joseph" GRAVES and wife Rosa M owned land in the village of Crooksville, Perry County, Ohio between 1907 - 1909. They bought it in 1907 and sold it in 1909. Also, if anybody has any cemetery books, if there is a Rosa M wife of Eli "Joseph" GRAVES that might have died between 1909 - 1918. Thanks, BaBa vizsla2@aol.com
I'm not Nancy but I do not find a marriage in the index or do not find Rosa in the Death index. Just because they owned land doesn't mean they were living on it. You might want to check Muskingum co records. Or other surrounding counties. My son had a huge 4' x 6' poster done from our FTM tree at Kinko's a year ago. They did a fabulous job. It wasn't cheap but worth it just the same.
