    3. Carole, Thanks for replying. I have three wives listed for George Washington Owens: 1st Catharine SEARS ... married in 1844 (probably 2nd) Mary R. Rockhold ... married in 1848 3rd Lucinda A. SPURGEON... married after 1848 The only child I have listed for George Washington is with his wife Mary R. Rockhold. He is John Bartley OWENS b. ? Who I am told was the founder of Roseville Pottery. Was the Jacob you have listed the son of Geroge Washington and Lucinda A. Spurgeon? 3. ----- Original Message ----- From: hdavey@comcast.net To: JoanDL@aol.com Cc: Lila Myers ; OHPERRY-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, March 20, 2002 11:20 AM Subject: {not a subscriber} Pepple family Joan, I too am a Pepple researcher. I am interested in the info you have collected on this family. My records are a little confusing, but they show Jacob Pepple, b. between 1770-1774 in Taneytown, MD, the son of William/William/Johan Peter Pepple and Elizabeth Sain. Jacob and Audrey ____ were reportedly the parents of 4 ch.: (1) Mary Pepple, b. bef 1800, m. Jacob Ridinger; (2) Joseph Pepple, Sr., m. Elizabeth Petty (as in your message), (3) Jesse Pepple, b. 10 July 1805 in MD, d. 1869 GratiotCo, MI, and m. (a) Mary Ann Tipple 1835 in HancockCO, OH, (b) Ellen Decker 1855. and (c) Ellen Bubbler 1863; and (4) Jacob Pepple, Jr., m. Nancy ____. However, other reports indicated Jacob had a second wife, who might have been the mother of Joseph Pepple, Sr. Note the discrepancy: 1790 Federal Census: Lived in Taneytown, Md. district with all the other Pepples. Father William was living nearby. Probably left Md. shortly after 1/15/1817 when he sold to John Ridinger (probably his son-in-law, husband of daughter Mary) for $80 one black gelding 15 year's old, one red and white cow, two hogs, three beds and bedding, five iron pots, one table, all household and kitchen furniture, balance of grain.... Jacob possibly stopped in other States before settling permanently in Perry-Fairfield Co., Ohio. He and wife, possibly a second one, between the ages of 60-70, lived in Jackson Twp. in 1830. Their son Jesse was still at home. In nearby Reading Twp., lived Jacob's sons Joseph and Jacob, Jr. DISCREPANCY: Jacob reportedly had a son Joseph b. 1804 to first wife (unknown) and a son Joseph b. 1806 in PA to second wife Audrey (as well as son Jesse b. to Audrey 1805 in PA). In any event, I have no record of your Abraham and would be interested in further details and citations. I do have several Abraham Pepples in my database, including: 1. Abraham Pepple, b. to William Pepple (father of Jacob Pepple) and his second wife ____ Young, m. aft 1786. I have no further info on this Abraham who would have been born after 1786. 2. Abraham Pepple, son of Abraham Pepple and Elizabeth Waggoner, d. RossCo, OH 1856, m. (a) Margaret Wells, 1822, (b) Nancy Elizabeth Taylor, 1827, (c) Tabitha Evans, 1836. Anything you could provided to clear up the discrepancy note above would be appreciated.
