Hi all I would suspect people would know their own age and of course people could lie about their age for various reasons. I think one of the reasons ages are sometimes off is that the census taker asked someone else ie. the kids/neighbors. How many eleven year olds know how old their parents are? Father's out in the far field and maybe mother too and who's left at the house when the census taker arrives? The kid would most likely know how old his siblings were. I might add my 2 cents worth -- I'm researching BEERY in Perry Co., and I have found many of them in records listed as Berry -- so yes, you have to look at ALL options...... There are a lot of people in this area with the last name of Berry. I go to the archives in Logan to look up my ancestors in the old books. The same thing takes place there. Hi everyone, here is my 2 cents addition to the conversation below: Family Search records are subject to the interpretation of the person transcribing them. In my case, my gggm Sarah Jane Crist was listed on the Family Search data base as Sarah J. Crier. The written index was correct. There is another weakness to the data base, it doesn't combine names with 1 letter spellings differences such as Soloman & Solomon (and in my family, these two spellings were used interchangeably). Hi Misty, The records on Familysearch are usually accurate because the church goes into the court houses and make film of the actual records. I was referring to personal records on Ancestry and Family. When people use abt. that means they are not sure. 13 is not too young to have a baby.smile My Grandmother married my Grandfather in 1879, she was 13 and he was 23. Had her first child at 14. Good luck and if you need any look ups - let me know. Sherole FGoodner@aol.com wrote: > Are there marriage record books available to purchase for Perry Co.? Are there marriage record books available to purchase for Perry Co.? I'm interested in the years from about 1850 to 1890. Is anyone willing to do lookups? Thanks, Faye
I have been researching Thomas DUTCHER for years with very little success. Recently another researcher found a Thomas DUTCHER and his children Amanda, Jason, Allen and Joanna on a 1850 Perry County, Ohio census. Previous to this knowledge I had located Thomas DUTCHER in 1860 Morgan County, Ohio census residing with his daughter (Canda) >should have been spelled Amanda and James ALEXANDER. Also listed in that household was Jason, Allen and Joanna DUTCHER. I am almost positive that these two families are the same. I would like to correspond with anyone who might have knowledge of any DUTCHERS residing in Perry Co. Ohio during this time period or even later. Not sure when they arrived in Perry Co. so maybe they were there before 1850. Thomas and dau. Amanda were born in New York. Thank you for any help that is provided. Jadean Hopper jadean46@aol.com

Connie, >... my husband, Doug is a descendant of the Bradshaws of Perry County.... I'm not sure if there is a Bradshaw connection, so I'll tell you what I know about "mine": Joseph (1810-1866) and Ellen (WELCH) BRADSHAW (1817-aft1883), both born in Ireland, came to the US ca. 1848 with their 3 children, Patrick, James and Joanna (called "Joey") . Their 4th child, John (my GGgrandfather) was born in 1850 in Vermont. They lived for a short time at Elyria, Ohio, then settled in Somerset, Reading twp, Perry Co. They were Catholic. Both Patrick and James were Civil War veterans. John moved to Hopewell twp, near Glenford where he married Ann Catharine Ice in 1874. The others stayed in Somerset, I think. I know there were other Bradshaws and Welches in other parts of Perry Co. at the same time. Perhaps they immigrated together and are related, I wish I knew. Wish I could be of more help, Jennifer Arn in CA
Hello, My Grandmother, Rachel Griffith Deavers, worked as a young girl in a pottery located in Crooksville, Ohio. Could anyone tell me what the name of that one would be? Cheryl Householder Hecker
Jennifer, my husband, Doug is a descendant of the Bradshaws of Perry County. I have seen documents during my research there on your John and Ann (Ice) Bradshaw. I have not figured out how this John Bradshaw fits into our Bradshaw family but I "assume" there is a connection. Do you have your John Bradshaw's parents and/or grandparents? Doug's grandfather was Harry R. Bradshaw, the son of William A. and Edith P. (Martin) Bradshaw, the son of Thomas and Lucinda (Pettit) Bradshaw, the son of Robert and Mary (Meyers) Bradshaw. Robert died in Perry County in 1852 and is buried on the Cannon Farm in Saltillo (which was Buckeye Cottage). Would love to hear from you. Connie Bradshaw

Hi fellow list members, I am trying to find out some information on Rebekah PRESTON. My family does not know what happened to her after her husband Ezekiel DAVISON passed away. We think she moved to possibly Perry, Vinton or Pickaway County OH to live with one of her children. The lineage is as follows: Ezekiel DAVISON b. 01 December 1763 Freehold, Monmouth County, NJ d. 01 August 1818 Freehold, Monmouth County, NJ, buried in the Old Tennent Churchyard, Freehold, Monmouth County, NJ m. ca. 1802 NJ to Rebekah (or Rebecca) PRESTON b. ca. 1772-1774 possibly France d. Unknown Their children: Deborah b. 1803, Algernon b. 1804, Susannah b. 1806, Joseph b. 1807, Sophia b. 1809, William b. 1811, Peter Wilson b. 1813. I have more information on Deborah, William and Peter's descendants. Deborah and Peter lived in OH when they reached adulthood. Deborah died in OH, but Peter died in KS. Some of Peter's children remained in OH. We think that Rebekah may have resided with either Deborah or her grandchildren. If anyone out there has some information on Rebekah, her parents or where she may be buried in Ohio, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Laura Davison Whitaker

Hi Rick - again, There is a John Hull on the federal census in 1800 - County,Ohio Territory - Township, Northwestern Territory. Reference, Oh. 1800 Washington Co. Census Index. John Hull - Perry co., Clayton Township 1820 pg. 14, 1830 pg. 393, 1840 pg. 99, 1850 pg. 426. John Hull Jr. 1850 pg. 424, John Hull Sr. 1850 pg. 424. Lots of John Hulls in Clayton. Must be that the 1820 and 30 is your GGGGGrandfather. John Hull Sr. 1850 your GGGGrandfather and John Hull Jr. a son of your GGGGrandfather. The 1800 Washington Co. Census was probably your family also. Perry Co. was Washington Co. until early 1800's. Hope this helps. Hi John, This is a stretch but, there was a Jane Cochran shown on the 1830 census in Jackson Co., Jackson Township. She was head of household. There is a female listed (the oldest) between 15 and 20 years of age. Probably her oldest daughter. As I'm sure you know, the oldest daughter was usually named after the Mother in the good ole days. Two houses away was a William Cochran. Sherole RLCovic@aol.com wrote: > Sherole, > Could you lookup this marriage and tell me who the parents are. > John Hull m.
