Frederick, and all, I'm researching the BUGH families, descendents of Peter Bugh Sr. who raised 11 children in Somerset, Perry County; involved in the building of the Somerset Courthouse and died there in 1819. He and many other Bughs are buried in the New Reading Township cemetery. One descendent, Michael Bugh, married Mary Ann Murdock in Perry County on 8 November 1838. Would anyone have access to immigration records. Looking for Patrick Burns of Scotland, and his wife Elizabeth McGinnis Burns. My Gr Grandfather was born approx 1858 and died in Rendville/Corning area in 1900. He was a miner. I found his immigration records in the courthouse years ago but have misplaced them. Always was told Elizabeth was from Ireland but census records show Scotland. If anyone will be visiting the courthouse and could check the immigration records I would greatly appreciate it. I have not been able to locate Patrick's grave but I know he died in Rendville / Corning, Ohio. Michele Finneran Williams

Hi, I have some Downey's that originated from Perry County as a collateral line. Thomas Martin Downey was the 2nd husband of my 5th gr-grandmother, Margaret "Peggy" DeGarmo O'Leary. They were married Jan 9 1854 in Perry County. He died in Perry County about 1858, and then Margaret and a bunch of the various children moved to Vernon County, Wisconsin. I'd be interested in learning if this may be the same Downey line. Hello: Included in my family research is the family of ALEXANDER BROWN who died in (Romney) Hampshire Co, VA after August 18l6. His will names son Adam Brown, son Samuel Brown, son Isaac Brown, daughter Jane Brown, daughter Polley Brown or Claton, daughter Elizabeth Brown, son Mathew Brown, son John Brown, son David Brown, daughter Nancey Brown or Day. Hampshire Co Land Records deed bk 29, page 326, ll April 1834 states that Isaac Brown of the County of Perry and state of Ohio was appointed by his brothers and sisters as their true and sale attorney in the above matter. In another document in that county these names were found: John Clayton husband of Polley Brown, David Pugh husband of Jane Brown Pugh, Samuel Rush husband of Elizabeth Brown. From a book compiled by Michael L. Cook (Genealogical Newspaper Columns of Agnes Ashby Ohio County,KY) I found this: Bible Record: Alexander Brown (born in Ireland and died September 1816 in Romey, VA) married Winnay (1) or Ann (2). They had 10 children. They Were: Adam Brown (born 1766 in Ireland died August 10, 1853 in Ohio County, KY) married Mary___________;Samuel Brown (born 1770 in Ireland died 1844 in Ohio County, KY) married in 1796 to Hannah Taylor (bosrn January 28, 1775 died 1853); Isaac Brown (died in Perry County, Ohio) John Brown (died in Perry County Ohio) David Brown (died in Perry County, Ohio); Jane Brown (died in Perry County, Ohio) married David Pugh; Nancy Brown (married ________Day); Polly Brown (died in Perry County, Ohio) married Samuel Rusk. I may have given you more than you wanted to know but I am interested in hearing from anyone related to these families. I believe my connection is Isaac Brown who married Mary Clayton. Other Ohio lines are: NORTH, RAMBO, RANDOLPH (FITZRANDOLPH), BORCE--could this be a sound alike name for Burris, Boyce, Boice---need your help), MCKINNEY, FUGATE, THORNTON, EVANS. Thanks to everyone who shares with others. L. Deweese
Hi Charlie, I really enjoyed looking at your website. We share the same SKINNER ancestors from Perry County. I looked through your Skinner data, and thoroughly enjoyed reading the wills and letters. I will be back to look more carefully at the data when I get the time. I think you have much more data on the family than I. I descend from Mary Skinner (b. 19 Oct 1816), who married John A. DISHON. Her line goes: Mary, James, Samuel (II), Samuel, Nathaniel, Richard (II), Richard. -Stacy Whitney ----- Original Message ----- From: "Charles Moore" <mailman@citcom.net> To: <OHPERRY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 12, 2002 11:50 PM Subject: [OHPERRY] My Surnames > Greetings, fellow researchers! > > These are the surnames I am presently researching and seeking info on from > Perry County. > > BARNETT, FORD, GOODIN, JONES, KILPATRICK, MARTIN, MOORE, OWINGS, SKINNER, > STICKEL, TRACY, VANDEGRIFF > > Other related surnames are: CONWAY, DICKERSON, DOLLINGS, FLING, HOWARD, > JESSOP, MARTIN, MASON, PRICE, SHAW, STEIN, TIGNOR, WISEHART > > I have info on many of these surnames at my website at: > > http://www.geocities.com/pm28766/genreports.html > > Any help, info, and/or documentation would be greatly appreciated and > credited to you. > > Thanks! > > Charlie MOORE > > > > > ==== OHPERRY Mailing List ==== > To unsubscribe from OHPERRY-L, send mail to OHPERRY-L-request@rootsweb.com with the single word unsubscribe in the message subject and body. Hi: I too have one or more Larimers in my tree. I woould be most happy to learn more and share info on the family. Thank you Kennie
Faye, it appears that we have a lot of the same family names and thought maybe our Johns were cousins. If you have a name for John's father we might make a connection? My John married Sophia Randolph (FitzRandolph) in Perry County in either 1820 or 1821. The marriage was confirmed by Perry County Probate records office. Linda
