When it arrives at your local library, you can usually use it only in-library, but they'll keep it for you if you need it more than one day. For 1852 in Perry County, the search unearths two newspapers: Microfilm Roll Title City Roll 34813 Perry County Democrat Somerset 9 / 4 / 1849 - 10 / 26 / 1853 Roll 34812 Post Somerset 3 / 7 / 1850 - 4 / 4 / 1855 I hope this helps, Stacy On Feb 27, 2008, at 2:04 PM, The Williams' wrote: > Doubt you could even find newspapers published in 1852 > Carole Williams > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "rea noneya" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Wednesday, February 27, 2008 1:28 PM > Subject: Re: [OHPERRY] 1852 Obits > > >> Angie, >> >> Do you know if there are any obits for the year 1852? Sandra, you'll need to write to the records office of the county in which they died. In Ohio, death & birth records prior to 1864 are non-existent. They weren't required to keep records prior to then. Some counties did maintain the records on their own, but not many. The early records will only give name, date of death, age, cause, and where they lived. This site, http://www.ohiohistory.org/resource/archlib/index.html, has links to finding the addresses for the various records. Because the fees vary from county to county, it's a good idea to call particular office for costs before requesting. I've found at times that the websites are not updated with current fees and have had to send extra money. Some records are available from the organization listed above. Good luck! Listmembers, Thanks for you help with my Grgrandparents! Would nayone know how I could get a copy of the Death Certificate of Jacob Siniff and Elizabeth Sanderson Siniff/Sinift??? Also does anyone know where the Sinift Farm was located??? In 1870 Jacob Sinift was living in Richland Township,, Fairfield County. For those of you who may find a Siniff/Sinift, etc. in your family tree, I would like to let you know we all descend from Johan Phillip Senft, he was of German descent and arrived in America in 1751. I think he was about 22 at this time (not sure). He moved to York, Pa. and was married to Anna Mary Bens/Bentz sometimes spelled Pence in 1754/55. They had several children Those of us who research this family still do not know how many sons they had, in any event one or two of their sons moved to Washington County, Maryland and were living there in 1790. My Ancestor Jacob Sain Sinift was born to Jacob Siniff/ and Catharine Sain Sinift in Maryland in 1799. He alson with his parents Sinift relatives, Aunts, Uncles and cousins and other families, moved to Fairfield County very early 1800s, possibly aboutt 1803. I recall from some information I once read some of the families they travelled with were Householders, Lehmans, Lowes, Kinnards and Allens. I'm sure Sain/Sane families were also with them. Jacob Senft/Siniff/Sinift was married to Nancy Gothrup around 1820. I have looked but have not seen this name in Fairfield or Perry County. Jacob and Nancy had several children and they married into some of the families they travelled to Ohio with, and into the Miller family., The Sinift family were devout Methodists and part of the early Methodist movement. Some information our family has indicates travelling Methodist Ministers stayed in Jacob Siniff/Sinifts home. I do not know what happened to all of Jacob and Nancys children. I do know that after Nancys death Jacob Sinift married Elizabeth in 1862 and thay had 2 sons one lived and he was my Grandfather James Milton Sinift B 1865. James Married Mary Catherine "Maud" Musser and my Dad was their change of life Baby born in 1918. Mary Catharine Sinist was the daughter of Samuel and Sarah Anna Rush Musser. Years after her husband Samuel Mussers death she married Asbury Elder, he preceeded her in death. Sarah Rush Musser Elder lived to her 90s, and milked a cow the day she ded in Dec. of 1826. Of course Perry County had been there for mrre than 100 years prior to then and my families lived near the Fairfield Perry CCounty line. MyGrandmother Mary Catharine Musser was the GrGrGrandaughter of Captain Christian Binckley/Binkley. He was one of the earliest settlers of what is now Perry County. his daughter Sarah Christina had married Henry Theobald Musser back in Maryland and they along with many families came to Ohio. I would love any of my family members to contact me. Our family pretty much left the area when their Parents died. My Dad Herbert Victor Sinift was orphaned at 12 and came to Michigan to live with his older Brother Samuel Sinift in Detroit Michigan. Herbert died in 1959, at 40 years of age. Good Afternoon, My Greatgrandmothers name was Elizabeth. She was born in Ohio probably Fairfield or Perry County in October of 1823. I do not know her maiden name, but this Elizabeth married my GGrandfather Jacob Sain Siniff/Sinift in 1862. Whe she married her name was Elizabeth Sanderson. He was 63 and she 39 when they married.. On the 1860census she is listed as Elizabeth Sanderson. She was living in a household in Perry County, Reading. Township as a 36 years old,, Manager of a Farm . Her household includes a boy William Sanderson 10 and a boy names George Franklin 4. Perhaps this child should have been listed as George Franklin Sanderson?? Her neighbors were William Sanderson age 60, wife Catharine 58 and Jane Sanderson 50. The other sides neighbors were Wm. Miller 54, and his family. Petty families lived on both sides 2 farms away.. Elizabeth Sanderson was believed to be born Elizabeth Heck, the daughter of Henry and Margaret Shafer Heck. A daughter of theirs Elizabeth Heck married Jacob Sanderson in 1849. The 1850 census shows them ias Jacob and Elizabeth Sanderson. He is 35, she is 25. This couple is living next to the same William and Catherine Sanderson in 1850 as Elizabeth does in 1860. This does indeed lead me to believe my Great Grandmother was born Elizabeth Heck in 1823 and she married Jacob Sanderson in 1849. Jacob died about 1855 and this is the question. Thanks to the help of Ron on this list and Nancy of California I have some answers, but still ssome questions??? Ron found on the 1870 Perry County census a Henry J. Sanderson 16, living with Margaret Heck, his presumed Grandmother, she was 71, also in the household were Lucy Heck 27, Susan Heck 6 and Frank Heck 4. (Or could this be Frank Sanderson 14???} Where was Henry Sanderson in 1860??? I have not found him> Maybe he was living with Grandparents??? In any case in 1870 Elizabeth is now Elizabeth Sinift 47, she is the wife of Jacob Sinift, 71 and the Mother of my Grandfather James Milton Sinift 5 yrs... Slso in the household was Elizabeth Sinift 31, Nancy Sinift 41 and William Sanderson 21.. Nancy and the Elizabeth 31 are believed to be Jacobs daughters by his first wife Nancy Gothrup.. Just a few years after the census William Sanderson and Elizabeth Sanderson, believed Stepsiblings married,. I guess that would make their children almost genetic equals to my Grandfather I think William Sanderson and his wife Elizabeth moved to Paulding County, Ohio and his probable brother Henry Sanderson and hsi wife and family moved to Darke County Ohio. Does anyone have additional informatiob on this family... Hoping to hear from family in Perry County! Shafer, Sanderson., Sinift, Binkley, Rush, Musser, McClellan, Sain, Wolft, McCune, Lane, Kinsell, Skinner, and more Are there any Sinifts sstill living in Perry County??? With Regards Sandy Sinift Firek Wyandotte Michigan 734 283-7718
Hi.... There was a Lucretia Sinift who married Christopher Barker in Perry Co. Have you gone in on FamilySearch....I just typed in Lucretia Sinift and there were a lot of names on that family. The Barker family was married into the Strait family also.
