    1. Re: [OHPERRY] resources for St. Rose Catholic Church history?
    2. Sue Saylor
    3. Jacqi, Here is what is listed in the "Pike Twp. Cemeteries of Perry County, Ohio" .... Pg. 107 Maplewood / New Lexington Cemetery: Cush, Rev. Father Austin A. b. 18 Aug. 1854 Ordained 26 May, 1888 d. 23 April 1942 Lg Cross with Jesus (Beloved Pastor of St. Rose Church from 23 June 1897 until his final reward) We probably have his interment date in the Maplewood Interment book, if you need that, also. At one time, there was a separate area in this cemetery for those of the Catholic faith. I don't think this practice is followed today. It is the largest cemetery in Pike Twp. and was probably named for all the large maple trees. It is very well maintained with brick and / or paved roadways throughout. Lovely setting. Today many people walk through this cemetery for the quiet and the exercise. Hope this helps. Sue S. Perry Co. 3. I have been working on transcribing letters exchanged with my husband's grandmother, written by various priests known to her family. In one of the letters, a Father Cush from St. Rose's Church in New Lexington was mentioned. While he is not a relative of my family (nor are any of the other priests in the letters), I want to obtain biographical material on him for an upcoming blog post to follow up on this letter. Does anyone have any online resources to suggest to me in finding out more about Father Austin Aloysius CUSH from New Lex? (Note: I've already gleaned everything available online from the Catholic Records Society. I'm just looking for more information.) Also, does anyone know where he is buried? His death cert only says "New Lexington." I'm presuming there is only one Catholic cemetery there...but I see nothing on Find-A-Grave to confirm. I would LOVE to obtain a picture of his headstone to include with a future blog post, if anyone in New Lex area is willing to help me out with this. The blog posts including the transcription of one of the letters ends with today's post at http://afamilytapestry.blogspot.com/2012/03/no-children-researching-these-lines.html If you wish to read the letter, it is in posts for the three preceding days from the link above. Thanks in advance for any help with this. I figured these Fathers have no children of their own to research their roots, so I may as well post something on their behalf... Jacqi
