    1. [OHPAULDI] WILLETT - AUGUSTINE or AUGENSTEIN Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel via
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of R. A. WILLETT MD of Elmore, Ohio which was taken at the Moreno & Lopez Studio in New York City. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's or 1890's with the subject appearing to be in his 20's at the time. I believe that this is a photograph of Roland A. WILLETT. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Roland and his family: Roland A. WILLETT was b. 14 Apr 1866 in Fremont, OH to parents Peter WILLETT (b. 8 Oct 1833 in Bedford Co. PA-1913) and Maria A. AUGUSTINE or AUGENSTEIN (b. Mar 1837 in Paulding OH-1915). Roland married Marie QUINCKE or QUINCKIE (1864-1899) on 22 Oct 1890 in Elmore, OH and together they had 4 children including, Florence Hathaway; Marie; Gaillard Peter; and Rudolf Edward WILLETT, all born between 1891 and 1897. Roland married a second time after the death of his first wife Marie. His second wife was Emily "Emma" V. BULLIMER or BULLIMORE or BUILMER (1874-1947). He may have been married a third time as well to Emma C. GRIFFIN (1877-1960). Roland died 26 Feb 1942 in Elmore, OH and is buried in the Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery in Elmore, OH. Census records provide the following details: 1900 census of Elmore Village, OH: Peter WILLETT, age 65, born Oct 1934, married 42 years, born OH, parents born PA, a Physician Maria WILLETT, wife, age 63, born Mar 1837, married 42 years, 1 child/1 living, born PA, parents born PA Rolland A. WILLETT, son, age 34, born Apr 1866, a widower, born OH, a Physician + 1 Servant 1920 census of Harris, OH: Roland WILLET, age 53, born OH, parents born OH Emma WILLETT, wife, age 45, born OH, parents born England + 1 Boarder 1940 census of Elmore Village, OH: Rolland WILLETT, age 73, born OH, a Medical Doctor Emma WILLET, age 63, born OH I am hoping to locate someone from Roland's family so that this wonderful old treasure can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

Here is a couple things I found by Googling. *********************************************************************************************************************************************** Tate's Landing Emerald Twp. Lots of interesting things happened during the sixty or so years this town existed on the canal. Lyle Tate, an Irish worker on the canal construction project, saved his earnings and bought a few acres of land around one of the locks. A store and several taverns soon graced the spot, and the town was born. It was apparently a very volatile place; in the 1840s the lock to the east was the site of a murder. The lock keeper had killed someone, and his plea of self defense was rejected by the court. On April 25, 1887, a hundred anti-canal men blew up the lock at Tate's Landing. And in 1900, the town's last saloon was mysteriously dynamited. Today nothing's left of the place. *********************************************************************************************************************************************** Mark Rose (1847 - 1924) - Find A Grave Memorial Mar 29, 2011 – He married along Lake Erie and migrated by canal to Paulding County where he had a home in what is now the Ghost town of Tates Landing. -----Original Message----- From: Barb H Sent: Sunday, August 19, 2012 9:05 AM To: OHPAULDI@rootsweb.com Subject: [OHPAULDI] Tates Landing Where is/was Tates Landing, Reed, Paulding, Ohio?
