I've been researching my Rognon family line and discovered that several of my 1st cousins (2x removed) were living there in the 1950's (and 60's too I think) so I searched the internet for more information. I just discovered today that there is a book written about the home titled, "The Avondale Children's Home - Celebrating a Century of Caring 1911-2011" by David E. Boyer and Gary E. King on Amazon for $15.00. The book contains a timeline and on p. 173 it states, "August 17, 1949 John S. Caughey & Sarah A. Caughey appointed Superintendent and Matron. February 22, 1964 John (Jack) S. Caughey died. March 1, 1964 Sarah Caughey - Acting Director ($300 per month)" she remained director until 1971.
