Wayne F. Kreis, 91, Loving Father and Grandfather Wayne Franklin Kreis, 91 of Ashland passed away, Tuesday morning, March 27, 2012 in the Kingston of Ashland. He was born July 17, 1920 in Bolivar, Ohio. Wayne was the son of the late George R. and Ruth (nee Blair) Kreis. He graduated from Savannah High School, Class of 1938 and went on to attend Ashland College. Wayne married the love of his life, the former Marjorie Stover on March 22, 1941 in Covington, Kentucky. He retired from Abbot Laboratories formerly Faultless Rubber Company after more than 35 years of service as a supervisor in 1985. Wayne was a devoted member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church where he was a former trustee and a volunteer at the Harvest Dinner’s and did yard work. He was one of the founders of the youth baseball league in Ashland during the early 1950’s. Wayne also played basketball for the Ashland Industrial Basketball League, having scored 121 points his last game that he played. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing, bowling, family activities, and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren. Wayne is survived by one daughter, Linda (Lisle) Liston of Ashland; two sons, David (Debra) Kreis and Kenneth Kreis, both of Ashland; seven grandchildren, Scott M. Liston of Ashland, Daniel (Dawna) Kreis of Fort Drum, New York, Douglas (Lisa) Kreis of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Shawn (Alexsis) Kelley of Atlanta, Georgia, Melanie (Christopher) Yoder of Columbus, Matthew (Rachel) Kreis of Wooster, and Adam Kreis of Mansfield; nine great grandchildren, David, Daniele, Delaney, Kassydi, Natalie, Alexis, Madelynn, Ashton, and Christian; one sister, Carolyn Lowe of Ashland; a sister-in-law, Diane Kreis of Stratton, Vermont; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years of marriage, Marjorie Kreis whom passed away on August 20, 1994; a granddaughter, Laura Jane Kreis; one sister, Eileen Harper; and four brothers, Elmer, Donald, Ward, and Richard “Dick” Kreis. Funeral services will be held, Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 322 Cleveland Avenue, Ashland, OH 44805 with Reverend’s John Guliano and Patricia Reiter officiating. Interment will follow in the Ashland Cemetery.
