If you are still out there somewhere, I hope you see my query! I am the 3rd gr-granddaughter of Thurza Tipton Burchfield of Carroll County, Ohio, and it is my belief that Miles Tipton was her brother. I have much information on Tiptons & Burchfields, but I'm having trouble finding the documentation for Thurza's parents. Could you share with me the information about Miles' parents or other family that you have gathered? Thurza Tipton was born about 1817, either in OH or PA. Her parents were born in PA, according to her census info. She m. James Burchfield in Carroll Co., OH in 1838. Their five children, two sons, Alexander J. and Thomas J. Burchfield, and three daughters, Mary, Margaret & Martha Jane were born there. Martha (b. 1852) began school there and her obit states that both she and her husband were students at the Whaley-Aten School. By 1850 this family had moved to Jackson Co., Ohio, as did some Tipton families. Martha Jane Burchfield was my gr-gr-grandmother. She married John W. Overly in 1872 in Jackson Co. and became the mother of 11 children. They lived most of their married life in Pike Co., Ohio and are buried in the Allen Chapel (formerly Jerusalem Chapel) Cemetery. They have a large, impressive gravestone. There are many ALLENs buried in this cemetery. I have more info if you are interested, including an Overly family photo of OR John & Martha Jane Burchfield and their children.
