Mrs Harper was born in Muskingum County, Ohio Eileen Harper, age 88 of Ashland, OH., passed away Sunday, March 04, 2012 at Samaritan Regional Health System Hospital. On April 14, 1923 in Bolivar, OH., Mrs. Harper was born to George and Ruth (Blair) Kreis. She had been a resident of Ashland most of her life working as a clerk for over 50 years in retail and grocery retail. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and involved with the church alter guild. For over 40 years Mrs. Harper volunteered at Samaritan Hospital. On June 17, 1951 Eileen married Eugene Harold Harper who preceded her in death December 29, 1968. Mrs. Harper is survived by a daughter, Kay Lamm of Boynton Beach, FL.; one brother, Wayne Kreis of Ashland; one sister, Carolyn Lowe of Ashland; sister-in-law, Diane Kreis of Groton, Vermont; 14 nieces and nephews; 26 great-nieces and nephews; and 34 great-great-nieces and nephews. Mrs. Harper was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Cal Lamm in 1979; brothers and spouses: Elmer and Maxine Kreis, Donald and Clara Kreis, Ward and Sis Kreis, and Richard “Dick” Kreis; sister-in-law, Marjorie Kreis; brother-in-law, Donald Lowe; niece, Carol Gessner; and 1 great-niece. Services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 322 Cleveland Ave., Ashland, OH., with Pastor John Guliano officiating. Interment will be at Ashland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Thursday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
