I am new to this list and hope that someone could guide me to obtain some information on my gg grandparents, Thomas Hines/Hynes and Katharine Stephan/Stephen/Stevens. Thomas was born in Ireland (county unknown) around 1826, but I do not know when or where he arrived in America. I DO know that he and Katharine married on August 5, 1849 at St. Thomas Church in Zanesville, Ohio. It is alleged that Katharine was born in 1832, possibly in the Utica, New York area (Oneida County). Her parents were Adam Stephan and Elizabeth Morgen both who immigrated from Germany. They too settled in Zanesville in Muskingum County. I am interested in finding out any additional information on Thomas ( his parents, was he a citizen when he got married, when he arrived and possibly what part of Ireland he came from, etc )or Katharine when they were in Ohio before they moved to Iowa,Missouri and then finally Kansas in 1865. Thomas and Catherine had the following children: Mary J. b. 1850 Muskingum County John D. b.1855 Muskingum County James M. b. 1856 Ohio or Iowa Margaret J. b. 1859 Iowa Elizabeth b. 1862 Iowa Catherine M.b. 1863 Iowa William S. b. 1866 Kansas Clara b. 1868 Kansas Ella b. 1871 Kansas Anna b. 1871 Kansas Charles b. 1875 Kansas Birth records of children, marriage records, naturalization records, newspaper entries, death notices or church records are of course likely sources but I am not familiar with this part of the country and ask for your assistance. Thank you in advance for your help! Any suggestions would be most welcome. Pat Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
