Joyce Avon Allard, 61 ZANESVILLE - Joyce Avon Allard, 61, of 2746 Maple Ave., died at 12:53 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at Zanesville Dialysis Center after a lengthy illness of kidney disease. She was born Sept. 5, 1945, in Muskingum County, to the late Floyd L. and Sarah Marie Hina Allard. Joyce was a 1963 graduate of Roseville High School and Good Samaritan Hospital School of Radiological Technology. She also obtained her bachelor's degree from Otterbein College and lived in Columbus for many years prior to returning to Zanesville. She was employed for many years in the Special Procedures Department at Riverside Methodist Hospital and The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus. She also was employed for a time at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus. Joyce owned and operated a private catering business while she lived in Columbus. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Roseville and was an avid Buckeye fan. Joyce is survived by a brother, Robert Allard of Roseville; special friends, Sally and Jim Gildea of Columbus and Doug Kreis of Zanesville; several cousins; and many loving friends in Columbus and Zanesville. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her grandmother, Alta Marie Hina, who passed in 1962. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 28, at William Thompson and Son, 5765 Gladstone Drive in White Cottage. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2007, at the funeral home with the Rev. Al Laese officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
