his obituary appeared in The Times Recorder, Zanesville, Ohio Wednesday 22 July 1959 Mrs Spitzer Dies After Long Illness Mrs DeWitt Spitzer 68 of Columbus a native of Zanesville died at her home at 8 pm Monday following an illness of several years. The former Ruth Cornell, she lived in this city for a number of years. She was a member of Northminister Presbyterian Church in Columbus and the R T King Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter Mrs Miildred Wintjen of Columbus and two granddaughters Mrs Ruth Coole of North Madison, Ohio and Mrs Barbara Powell of 944 South Moorewood Drive. Mrs Spitzer's first husband was the late Grover George internationally known magician. The body is at the Harvey Davis Funeral Home, Summit and Sixteenth Avenue in Columbus where friends may call after 7 pm Tuesday. Services will be held at 10 am Thursday at the funeral home with burial at 12:30 pm in Greenwood.
