A more detailed obit will appear in The Times Recorder tomorrow 5 January 2007 JOHN DANIEL “DANNY’ KREIS 58 Danny Kreis age 58, 205 Donerail Drive, Pastaskala, formerly of Columbus and Zanesville, Ohio died 4 January 2007, following an illness from ALS (Lou Gherigs Disease). Danny was born 10 September 1948 in Zanesville, the son of C Robert Kreis of Zanesville and Treasure L Arter Kreis, also of Zanesville. He was a 1968 graduate of Adamsville High School, and a veteran of the US Air Force, serving in Italy and Japan, during the Vietnam War. He was retired from Georgia Pacific Company in Columbus. He was a former member of St John’s Lutheran Church in Zanesville. Danny was a great golfer and sportsman. “No one could hit a ball like Danny Kreis”. He was inducted into the Zanesville District Golf Association Hall of Fame in October 2005. He won many honors, and was well known in local golf circles. He was an avid Ohio State Football fan. He is survived by his long time companion Charlotte Vickers of the home, his daughter and son-in-law Gina and Ben Jessup and grandson Asa Daniel Jessup all of the home. One brother R Douglas Kreis of Zanesville; three sisters Diane Dalton (Don Baker) of Zanesville, Debbie (Greg) Strohl of Somerset and Darla (Rich) Wieber of Herron Bay, Thornville. He is also survived by his lifelong friend Steve Evec. Gina’s mother; Betty Jane Kowalski (Paul) Kunz of Buckeye Lake. Numerous nieces, nephews and many cousins, also survive. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents C Edwin and Fanny Janney Arter and his Paternal grandparents John W and Iona B Trottman Kreis, one niece Stephanie “Buff’ Bowen, his step-mother Dorothy Bates Kreis, and two brother-in-laws Joseph Noll and Jim Hewitt. Bolin Dierkes Funeral Home 1271 Blue Avenue Zanesville, Ohio are entrusted with the arrangements. Burial will be in New Hope Lutheran Cemetery near Adamsville, Ohio
