This obituary appeared in The Adamsville Register, Adamsville, Ohio Tuesday 26 April 1910 DIED IN COLORADO Mrs Mary Ross died at Home of Son L R Ross at Canon City Mary Ross was born 31 May 1825 and died 18 April 1910 aged 84 years 10 months 17 days. She was born in western Pennsylvania but some 80 years ago came to Muskingum County, Ohio, where she lived until about the first of September 1909 when she went to Canon City, Colorado and made her home with her son L R Ross who with his family had moved to that city about three and one half years ago. Just a few weeks ago her sister Mrs Harriett Rorick died in Columbus, Ohio. Mrs Ross was the last of a family of six children. She was the daughter of William Hogue and was a half sister to Mr George Hogue of Adams Township with whom she made her home just previous to going to Canon City. She lived also a short time with Mr and Mrs McKnight Hamilton at West Lafayette. The deceased was the wife of Gilbert Ross who died more than 46 years ago. She was the mother of five children, four sons and one daughter, three of whom preceded her to the spirit land. Two sons survive her J N Ross of Newark, Ohio and her son with whom she lived in Canon City, L R Ross. She is survived also by five grandchildren H L Ross of Zanesville, Ohio, C C Ross of Newark, Ohio, Mrs McKnight Hamilton of West Lafayette, Ohio and Paul and Ruth Ross of Canon City, Colorado. She also had four great grandchildren living. O H Ross of Adamsville and David Ross of Thayer, Kansas were step-sons of the deceased. When young she joined the Baptist Church of Otsego but on moving to Madison Township she attended the Pleasant Hill and Bethesda Churches as long as she was able to go. At the time of her death she was the oldest member of the Bethesda M E Church of Adams Township where she had been a faithful member until her declining years. Her health seemed better the last three years and she was poorly only five or six days; then she began to grow gradually weaker and just at noon she passed away as peacefully as a child would go to sleep. She was buried at Lake Side Cemetery, Canon City 20 April 1910, Dr Phifer officiating
