Rachael's husband Alexander Dewar died in Muskingum County in the mid-1840s. In 1850 Rachael was living in Muskingum County along with her two youngest children in the household of John Russell (b.1780), according to the 1850 census. I am trying to figure out if John Russell may have been a relative of Rachael's, possibly her father or maybe even his wife, or if she was simply a member of the household. Rachael later moved to Iowa and was using her married name Dewar there, so it is more likely John Russell was not her husband. If anyone could shed some light on John Russell and/or who Rachael Dewar's parents may have been, I would greatly appreciate it.
