Seeking information on my ancestors who lived in Muskingum County beginning about 1810: Adam and Elizabeth Bowman. Elizabeth born about 1775. She has a gravestone in Muskingum County, 'Elizabeth, wife of Adam Bowman, died Dec 11, 1863. Aged 68'. I have nothing on Adam other than this. There is some evidence that might point to the patriarch of this family was Daniel Bowman born in Pennsylvania. Children: 1. Daniel Bowman b. abt 1792, PA died Feb. 1877 Muskingum County, Ohio. Married Margaret Pringle, 6 Apr 1816 Muskingum Co. Daniel buried Methodist Cemetery, Perry Township, Muskingum Co. 2. Leonard Bowman (my direct ancestor) b. 1 Mar 1795 Pa, died 15 Jan 1877, Shelby County, Iowa, married Catherine 'Katie' Spicer, b 1 May 1794, New Jersey, 25 Feb 1860 Shelby County, Iowa. 3. Catherine Bowman b. 1798 Pa, died abt 1833 at ?? 4. William Bowman?? 5. Jacob Bowman b 1801 Pennsylvania, died 6 May 1867, Perry Township, Muskingum County, married Mattaney 'Mary' Wolford 18 Oct 1823 Muskingum County, Jacob died 19 Jan 1862, Salem Township, Muskingum County, buried New Hope Cemetery, Muskingum County. 6. George Bowman b 1803 Pennsylvania, died 6 May 1867 Perry Township, Muskingum County, married Anna Donniker on 15 June 1826 Muskingum County 7. Nancy Bowman born abt 1808, Pennsylvania (no other information) 8. Anna Bowman born 1 Oct 1809, Ohio, married Enoch Rusk, 1 Oct 1829, Muskingum County. 9. Caroline Bowman born 1811, Ohio, married James C. Young, 30 June 1831, Muskingum County. 10. Adam J. Bowman born about 1812, Muskingum County, married Hannah Dunker, 24 Oct 1833, Muskingum County 11. Margaret 'Polly' Bowman born 21 july 1811 Salem Township, Muskingum County, married Benijah Spragg, 30 Nov 1834, Muskingum County, she died 13 July 1899 Muskingum County. 12. Solomon Bowman born 19 Jan 1820, Ohio, married Eliza A., died 18 May 1891, buried New Hope Lutheran, Salem Township, Muskingum County. John Spicer born 19 May 1754, Sculcoates, Yorkshire, England, married Kathern, born 1752, Wales, Great Britain. John died 6 August 1838, Muskingum County, buried Adamsville Cemetery, Muskingum County, Kathern died about Jan 1840. John and Kathern had eleven children and lived in Muskingum County, many of them buried.
