Eppley Dies At Home Saturday Of Heart Disease Well Known Gardener Expires -- Funeral Services at Central Church Funeral services for Christian S. Eppley, 72, well known gardener and stock raiser, who died Saturday night at his home on Riverside Drive, four miles south of this city, will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Central M.E. church with Rev. Fred Riley, the pastor, officiating. Burial will be made in Greenwood cemetery by the Hearing company. Death followed an illness due to heart disease. He was stricken four weeks ago and remained in a serious condition. The owner of a large truck garden, Mr. Eppley specialized in raising Poland China hogs and gained a state-wide reputation as a stock breeder. He was a member of the Riverside grange, also Central M.E. church. Surviving are his widow and four children, Cleason A. Eppley, South River road; Miss Stella M. Eppley, at home; Ralph Eppley, of Riverside Drive; Mrs. Alice Martin, of Dresden; also 11 grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Anna Gilbert and Mrs. Kate Stabler of Lansing, Mich.; Simeon Eppley, of Johnstown; Lewis Eppley, of Stovertown road; Roland Eppley and Mrs. George H. Heinle, of Riverside Drive. A brother, Emanuel Eppley, former city sealer of weights and measures, died in December. Ritualistic services will be held by members of Riverside Grange at the residence at 8 o'clock Monday evening, the grangers meeting at the home. Arrangements are in charge of the Hearing company.
