I made the offer to look ups to the Meigs Board and decided to extend the offer to three other boards that I belong to: I have one volume of the Roster of Ohio Soldiers 1861-66 - Vol VII. It contains 87th - 108th Regements of the Ohio Infantry. It contains an alphbetical listing of the members by company - officers first. It gives the following information - Name, Rank, Age (at enlistment), Date of entering the service, Period of Service (how long they signed up for) and Remarks. In the back of the book there is a "Roll of Honor" for these regiments - listing by Regiment, soldiers that died during the war. Information given: Name, Compan, Rank, When they died, Where they are buried and remarks. Some of the remarks give specific information about where they died or were buried. If anyone has a relative that served in these regiments..... I would be happy to send them what information there is. I just need Name, Regiment # and Company. You should be able to get these from the NARA site. >From the Introduction of the book, it was commissioned by the Legislature of the State of Ohio. There were a total of 7 volumes - but the first book published was Vol 2 - covering Regiments 1 - 20 and was issued Oct 15 1886; Vol 3 - Regiments 21-36 issued Jan 15, 1887; Vol 4 - Regiments 35-53 issued Aug 15, 1887; Vol 5 Regiments 54-69 isssued Oct 15, 1887; Vol 6 - Regiments 70-85 issued Feb 1 1888; Vol 7 - Regiments 86-108 issued Aug 1 1888. Volume 1 containing the three months troops will be the last to be issued. It seems there were 10,000 copies of each volume with specific directions as to how they were to be distributed - to General Assembly members down to local libraries, with excess for sale at a price "not to exceed $1.00 per volume" and no more than one copy of each book to a single person.
